Betting shops should only be allowed in areas where the median income is north of £80k. Any less than that and they are preying on people who can't afford to lose hundreds every month.
Here we go, as of 2026 i am now going to approve a referendum to return to the EU. even though we blocked any chance of being a sovereign nation for 10 years over both parties, didn’t give it a chance and smashed illegal immigration 10 fold to import over 5 million people since brexit.
@grok what is britains population increase since 2016
Keir Starmer:
There is no British security without Europe, and no European security without Britain.
That is the lesson of history—and it remains today’s reality.

@real_lumethos@anon_opin Truth is, btw, no one cares about the th vs s thing in spain, if for no other reason than because they're used to Latin Americans speaking like that
The "v" vs "b" thing on the other hand can mean the difference between being understood and not being understood...
@rob_onesky@anon_opin hmm. fair game.
but you have to draw a line somewhere. you can't pronounce *every* foreign word natively. no one does this, no one will do this.
plus, "jalapeno" doesn't have a disputed pronunciation across dialects in english the way ibiza does, and many place names
Pronouncing the Spanish C or Z with a 'th' sound, whilst technically correct, makes you sound like a prick. Barthelona, Choritho etc. The only exception is Ibiza.
@real_lumethos@anon_opin I do actually agree. And I've made the same argument myself lol.
My take on it is, if there's an easy substitute sound in English, you might as well use it rather than not use it.
@real_lumethos@anon_opin It's absolutely trivial to substitute the sounds - there is a direct and almost identical "th" sound in English.
Do you say "gialapeeno" for jalapeño? If not, why not? It's the same thing.
@rob_onesky@anon_opin If you are actually speaking the language, sure.
If you are speaking English, it is dumb to use a native pronunciation when it has an English one.
Everyone pronounces 99% of things with the anglicised pronunciation, just do it all the time
No one should have to live a life in fear because of the faith they practice.
That is not the Britain we stand for.
In addition to existing support, up to £10 million in new funding will protect synagogues, Jewish faith schools and community centres across the UK.
@rob_onesky@anon_opin Fine. But then in light of what we now know and what we accept is arbitrary, we're all to reconsider our classifications.
At the very least it shouldn't be off-limits.
Ditto for a year being 365 days long and requiring leap year day to keep everything roughly in order
Gas planets are not planets, they are just big balls of gas, I know they orbit the sun but so do some meteors. Unless you can stand on the surface it shouldn't count.
@rob_onesky@anon_opin So if the ancient Greeks managed to spot a few meteors changing position relative to the stars they too would now be "planets"?
Seems incredibly arbitrary then.
@RobertAnim8er Games need to ditch their fixation with parry and dodge mechanics as an unavoidable part of combat
