Just to stress here, my take is not because Italy never qualified, far from it, good enough you qualify , quite correct.... but there are many nations who will never qualify for a World Cup, why would you not want fans of other countries to travel to and support their nation in a major ( or minor) tournament involving teams not in their continent.. that's the world game that's grows the game,...imagine the billions wanting that Winners qualify for actual World Cup ,,

@Robbie9Fowler @talkSPORT Total rubbish from Goldstein and you, it's elitist and as bad as the super league rubbish. Sport is a meritocracy and if you are good enough you qualify, it's as simple as that and fair. If Italy can't qualify on merit they don't deserve to be there and it's their fault.

How have you got I don't think minnows deserve to be on the world stage from this? All teams quite rightly enter the World Cup,but over 80+ countries have never been.. those nations supporters I think would love to watch their team participate in a major? Tournament... I should've put "minnows" in quotation marks
