@robbo_gman Just when things start looking up for this team he pulls this garbage and that really leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

For months I’ve watched Giants fans laugh at JS for losing all of his power and say in the organization and saying that Harbaugh and Aponte are running everything. But now it’s JS fault that Dex wants out? I want Dex here but he went about this the wrong way at the wrong time

@FittieSmalls It did not look good that he played out of shape last year and had a sub par season for the standard he set. He got his money and then got fat and played like crap. Its something that they are concerned about.

Dex is trying to tantrum his way into a trade for a discount and the Giants better not. They did right by him and made him the highest paid at his position at the time. Yes, they should have paid him more last year but it’s gross to me when players fake being done dirty.

@FittieSmalls Problem is you can only trade him to a team in win now mode. Not only does that team have to give up assets but then would need to sign him to a monster contract. And yes it will severley weaken the DT spot. Shitty situation

@robbo_gman I want him to stay because 1- you can’t replace Dex and 2- we’re WAY too thin at DT. And if they do trade him it better not be for less than a first.

@DDuggan21 Bad blood with Schoen. Yet he signed a top 3 contract with Schoen in 2023. Hes considered a respected teammate and leader but is shitting on his teammates right now. I want to give Dex the money would suck to lose him. Hope this all works out

Everyone is understandably caught up in the moment-to-moment drama of the Dex standoff. But let’s play this out. The team’s stance is clearly that there’s two years left on the deal so they don’t have to do anything. That’s true. But what’s the end game with a player who is clearly extremely unhappy? Hard to imagine him showing up in West Virginia ready to enthusiastically participate in camp without a new contract. So they can have a respected team leader being a malcontent in the locker room and then likely have another subpar season. Then what next offseason when his trade value will have plummeted? Or maybe Dex blinks first and shows up ready to prove the Giants wrong for not valuing him. He has a dominant season, which is obviously beneficial for the Giants in 2026, but what does that do to his asking price next offseason with only one year remaining on his deal? This is why I’ve said from the jump the only thing that matters is their evaluation of who he is as a player now and in the future. It’s obvious that the team doesn’t like that he’s trying to force their hand. Again, I think Schoen is too consumed with “winning” the negotiation (which has contributed to some of the acrimony with Dex). But like it or not, all the leverage or not, the best thing for them to do is act sooner than later. His value is going to be in a significantly different place a year from now, for better or worse. And it’ll be a painful road to that point that they’d be best served avoiding in what’s supposed to be a new era.

The Giants would get some really solid trade offers in this spot with teams behind them looking to move up for Arvell Reese. In this scenario, trading down would be my preference. But if they don’t like the offers, then take Caleb Downs. Either outcome is a good one.

@MetCastPod @JimDuquetteGM The biggest disappointments are the players we hoped would step up. Baty , Vientos, Peterson, Alvarez have all disappointed. Alvarez shows numbers but hes been inconsistent and his defense has been avg at best. Lindor being the biggest disappointment.

I agree with Jim here - Juan Soto isn’t going to save this season by himself. If this team is going to turn things around, it’s going to take real offensive production from guys like Bo Bichette and Jorge Polanco, plain and simple. Beyond that, the bottom half of the lineup has to step up. Brett Baty and Marcus Semien need to start producing like legitimate major league hitters because right now, that just hasn’t been the case.

To those saying Schoen is faultless, proceed with that as a fact… Given his track record… Do you think this won’t be a stain on his legacy — whether you believe it’s fair or not — if Dex, Dexs, and the Giants get less value than a one?

Just when we thought Joe Schoen’s legacy couldn’t get worse… Imagine how we’ll feel when the Giants trade him for a 2 and he goes on to remain Dexter Lawrence.

😂 some of these trade ideas are straight-up delusional. Moving Dexter Lawrence would be insanity... especially on a position you're already thin in. That dude is the anchor of the defense a legit game wrecker. Pay the man, structure it however you need to and keep him happy. On the flip side: you still take every call. If someone wants to blow you away with a ridiculous offer hmmmmm. The #Giants have bigger problems to solve than creating new ones by shipping out Dex. If he's not happy, MAKE HIM HAPPY.

@MetCastPod It’s never too early to lose 8 straight and 5 games back in last place, BUT it really is still early, if this goes into late / end of May and they are playing the same way, then it’s late early.

I will forever be on the #PayDex train. He’s a great player the Giants don’t get better moving on from him unless they hit on every single draft pick imo.
