Living "like" Christ is outward mimicry. The NT teaching is "for me to live IS Christ".
As a result of ongoing salvation of our soul and body (beyond initial regeneration) the being sanctified Christian doesn't live more LIKE Christ but actually lives more of Christ in His own life. We live and He lives together as one living
Hence Galations 2:20:
I am crucified with Christ; and IT IS I LONGET I WHO LIVE, BUT IT IS CHRIST who lives in me; and THE LIFE WHICH I NOW LIVE in the flesh I live in faith, the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me." (Galatians 2:20)
Mere outward service leads to a Matthew 7:21 experience. Salvation + service but without organic conformity to the living image of Christ.

The focus is the death and its implication because of what it means -- not the body itself.
The life of Christ is undoubtedly underappreciated by Christians, but the living of Christ in itself is not what saves. It verified Christ as the spotless Lamb worthy of offering, but His death & resurrection are what accomplishes salvation for man
