Our latest work showing that GLUT4 exofacial antibodies can measure translocation in humans and rodent skeletal muscle fibers and is impaired in TBC1D4 KO rats despite rescued GLUT4 expression. DM me for open access version: diabetesjournals.org/diabetes/artic…

Super happy to share our new paper by @SteffenRaun Here we show that Rac1 is critical for muscle adaptations to exercise training such as - protein synthesis and muscle hypertrophy -running capacity improvements - glycogen resynthesis sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

🚀New preprint w/ @roberto_amv: We used chemogenetics to precisely control mitochondrial H2O2 in skeletal muscle in vivo. This exposes a dose-dependent sequence: translation suppression → proteolysis → denervation-like → degeneration @tejensen23 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

In our latest paper, we show that inducible sk. muscle AXIN1 /2 double KO have normal AMPK, mTOR and glucose uptake regulation, questioning previously proposed dependencies on this scaffold protein. Thanks to all co-authors for their contributions physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1113/JP…

Our new paper in Redox Biol showing that insulin stimulation of skeletal muscle surprisingly does not detectably increase the ROS H2O2 using state-of-art methods in different models including humans, but in fact causes a selective reductive shift sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

@HeWaHippo Hi! Measured by western blot yes. Other people use to stain the myotubes with MHC and measure their diameter.

Muscle researchers: What do you recommend to validate muscle atrophy by dexamethasone treatment of C2C12 myotubes? Measurement of myotube size? Expression of MAFbx/Atrogin1 and MuRF1? Anything else?

Our new FASEBJ paper. We looked into mTOR Ser1261 phosphorylation in human and mouse muscle, proposed by Diane Fingar's lab to be first an Akt and then AMPK site regulating mTORC1 and 2 activity. Clearly AMPK site but impact on mTORC unclear in our hands faseb.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1096/fj…

Finally created a profile on #bluesky yesterday. Took me 5 min to set up and found the interface pleasently similar. I encourage my scientific peers and academic institutions to join to make this platform a viable alternative to the decreasing signal/noise on X.

Excited to share our Science Advances paper on mitochondrial ROS and its impact on insulin resistance in skeletal muscle! Huge congrats to @Matteo_Fiorenza and the team! Check out the tutorial and paper below—more insights on this topic coming soon, I hope! :)

Thrilled and proud to have presented our research conducted in the @tejensen23 group at the @SFRR_Europe Annual Conference! Sharing our findings on how in vivo chemogenetic H2O2 generation impacts muscle mass was an incredible experience. Grateful for all the positive feedback.
