Once again here to say that the current scheduling where we go to a country one year for tests and then go back the following year for white ball cricket is, and I cannot stress this enough, the single stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. The next FTP needs to fix up big time.

@dangiallorossi Euro 96 was the first tournament I remember as well, and I guess things in your childhood always seem to hurt that bit more!
You could sense that Croatia game slipping away, and in the end we weren't quite good enough.

@dangiallorossi 36 me, and was at the Croatia game. That Germany one does still sting because pretty sure that Gazza chance was in ET, so would have been a Golden Goal. Would have then had Czech Republic in the Final, and we'd have been huge favourites.

@jim_windsor @NeilJamesWriter A couple of things with that - how many teams at this level have a quality #2? Any decent keeper wants to play games, and won't be paid enough in this league to sit on the bench.
Also, we did sign a 2nd goalkeeper in January, just absolute sods law they got injured after 1 game.

@NeilJamesWriter We’re paying the price for not having a viable number 2 on the books. It’s ok having the best GK in the league but we’re now seeing what happens when you pray he stays fit for 46 games with no backup. Terrible planning from Walters and co.

Watching the goals, the first one Simkin let in wasn't as bad as I thought in real time. Does take a big deflection. The third one is very poor, even though you'd expect a striker to score from that position.

@jtwknowles @greenhoff1972 Notts County were a good side in those days from memory. Can't remember if it was that game, or a season or two later, where we lost to them at home when they were top of the league.
Might have been the 1-0 defeat later that year.
