@Damian_Roland Baffling that NICE updated NG51 for adults but didn't for paediatrics. As better screening tools already exist we need evidence to prove the inadequacy of NG51 & justify not using it. Wasn't glib, just context as no one understands sensitivity / specificity! #ESPID2024

It’s what we’ve always known in Children’s Emergency Care but this, what appears to be glib, reflection perfectly highlights why vital sign based rules are ignored.
Current #sepsis approaches make identifying these children LESS rather than more safe…

Simplified approaches lead to many problems! Using the weekday a child was born would be a BETTER marker for sepsis than heart rate alone: nicely showing us the problems of ruling sepsis in or out based on physiological markers alone. #espid2024ambassador @robindmarlow

Anyone know if you can force your energy supplier to upgrade the firmware on your smart meter?

I'm going to build a Shiny application that takes as inputs rates of people coming into a service and rates of people going out and outputs the expected net flow of people in/ out over time. Not DES or anything fancy, just averages. Anybody already done that before I start?

@emergencypdx As an ED paediatrician that's a normal HR for nearly all of my patients. So it's an easy cognitive trap to miss this in older teenagers for whom I'd be cautious.

Good news to see ibuprofen can now be considered in chicken pox after consultation with Health Care Professionals
& a good reminder to HCPs - ibuprofen is not an absolute contraindication
