@oeskeide @CFDevelop @neofight78 I think it definitely can create a paralyzing environment. Also, it is hard to overstate how conducive to programming some of those old systems were. You’d turn the power on and 5s later were at a prompt and could type: 10 PRINT “YAY!” Living in BASIC was the default!

My grandma was in her 60s when she bought a C64 and started teaching herself to code from books. She had no tertiary education or anything like that. There was no internet or Google back then. So, when people ask me how to get started, I am legit confused.

@mikefrobbins 😭 Cisco UCS is similar. There's a point at which it makes using a module much harder.

It's faster to copy local copies of modules via RDP to servers, than it is installing from the PowerShell gallery at the moment :(

So apparently if someone knows / guesses the name of your S3 bucket - even if it's private (!) - they can just bankrupt you by sending infinite PUT requests and there is nothing you can do about it. > requests get rejected > but AWS still counts it as a write operation against your account for which you have to pay at a rate of $0.005 per 1000 requests This seems insane to me. Especially because a lot of services rely on presigned URLs for uploads / downloads which exposes your bucket name to the client. In this case the author got their bill waved, but AWS support made it clear it's an exception not the rule.
