The difference: The upsetting things said by Trump and Vance are not true. The upsetting things said about Trump and Vance are true. Trump really did mount a violent coup against the Constitution. He and his relatives really did take bribes in office, including from foreign governments. He really was helped into power by Russian espionage agencies. He really did steal secret documents from the US government after his election defeat. And Vance really did, and by his own admission, intentionally "create stories" for political advantage that put residents of his state at risk of physical harm.

OK, Trump got his ass kicked by Harris this week. That’s great but it’s time to move on. Specifically, to the huge national security / malign actor interference risk that Donald John presents as early as a week from tomorrow. Thread:

All night he talked about himself and about her. She, by contrast, talked about you. Because that’s who she works for.

I know we’re all focused on what Harris needs to do tonight, but I hope the moderators will ensure Donald Trump explains clearly his position on abortion. As well as why he plans to pardon those who attacked the Capitol on January 6th, refused to engage in the peaceful transfer of power, what he thinks about his VP saying it was better when women stayed with their abusive husbands, what evidence does he have that the 2020 election was stolen, why he dined with white supremacists, how he feels about being an adjudicated rapist, why he said he would suspend the constitution, what was he thinking when he demanded Georgia election officials go find him 11,000 votes, why he has such a warm relationship with Vladimir Putin, what he thinks about being the first convicted felon to seek the Presidency, and, finally, why he should be trusted with America’s secrets after refusing to return stolen classified documents he was keeping in his bathroom. There’s probably a few more….

A few things about this: it’s a straightforward news headline; doesn’t editorialize. It accurately characterizes what he did. And yes, it’s news.

The Trump campaign said at the beginning of the week it would release video of the Arlington National Cemetery incident. Where's the video?

Where is the outrage, the demand for prosecution, that would follow an incident like this with any other candidate; especially the outrage from Republicans had a Dem done this?

There are two points worth making on this incident.

Omg. Even the way he says “weeeird” is weird.

This is a critical question⤵️ the media has feasted on trump voter stories for 9+ years but ignored similar pieces on democratic voters. There are hundreds of stories staring them in the face right now just from the various zoom calls groups alone.

Tim Walz served honorably and well. Again, this is strategic: team Trump needs us tied up in debates over pre-retirement conditional rank promotions because they are desperate NOT to discuss their (unpopular) policies, like tax cuts for the rich and banning access to abortion.

Trump is held to a different standard. Episode 7-zillion.

I really don't understand how someone could watch that and think he's fit to be president.
