Many people who came under the Boris wave immigration rules will be able to vote in the General Elections (and were able to vote in the Locals too) because Commonwealth citizens are allowed the vote without needing a British citizenship even if they have just arrived in the UK. Meanwhile settled status EU citizens like myself can't vote even if we have been paying taxes for years. This is accidental but clearly unfair. One group of immigrants has disproportionately more rights over another based on historical context that should have little relevance on policy making today.

Deluge of these on my TL 🤔
