@CenTexLib I'm super late here but I was playing with the numbers and Harris won Peconic by 8. Maybe the local Democratic Party would want to support it so they can see a little more blue on the map. Historically the idea of Peconic has only been supported by Republicans.

Suffolk County, New York (pronounced Suf-fuck) has a very odd situation concerning its county governance. The ostensible county seat is the hamlet of Riverhead, within the town of the same name, but the reality is, most of its county government buildings aren’t located there. The Suffolk County Supreme Court—the highest court in Suffolk County—*is* located there, on 1 Court Street, in the hamlet of Riverhead. But most of the other county courts are located in the Arthur M. Cromarty Criminal Court Complex, across the Peconic River in the hamlet of Riverside, within the town of Southampton — albeit with a Riverhead address, because it’s within the Riverhead zip code, 11901, that extends far beyond the boundaries of the Riverhead CDP. This speaks to the unique and somewhat comical nature of New York hamlets: because they are not incorporated, they do not have official boundaries. There are, of course, the CDP boundaries given by the Census, but the locals are bound to disagree with those boundaries quite often. On top of that, the zip code boundaries very frequently disagree with the CDP boundaries. And in the case of a CDP like Riverside, you have a community that, 1) is not incorporated, 2) does not have its own addresses (all of its addresses say Riverhead), and 3) is not even referenced within the names of local businesses (they all say Riverhead instead, perhaps because they all have Riverhead addresses and so they identify with the name Riverhead instead). So, then, does a CDP like Riverside even truly exist at all, outside of the imaginations of the Census Bureau’s employees? In addition, most of the county’s executive branch offices are located in Hauppauge (pronounced Haw-pog), which is split between the towns of Islip and Smithtown, within the western half of the county. This spreading out of government offices has frustrated residents of eastern Suffolk County, who feel that they are not being listened to despite being home to the ostensible county seat (Riverhead), and has led to the thus-far-unsuccessful attempts to split Suffolk County into two, with the easternmost five towns being proposed to form a new county called Peconic County. But these efforts would require approval from the state legislature, and as such are not going anywhere, so for the time being, Suffolk County, New York, will continue to be an exception to the rule that a typical county is supposed to have one county seat where all its county government offices are: it will continue claiming to have just one county seat on paper, but will in fact have multiple de-facto county seats in practice.

@_fat_ugly_rat_ It's highly stratified. E.g. Ventura is 45% Latino, and tertiary educational attainment is much lower in that demographic.

@robmac619 @barstoolsports I get where you’re coming from on it. Even if that’s true I slightly disagree but I appreciate the respectful conversation and input. I’m not gonna be really outraged on it like others probably will be cus it’s different from other specific anthems.

@bigb_904 @barstoolsports I get it. But I think it's just a nice way to make an outreach to fans who have to cross a border to come see your team play. Just to return the favor. That being said I'm pretty sure the Padres don't play the Mexican anthem as the only pro team near the southern border

@robmac619 @barstoolsports I’m a Red Wings fan and fan of Detroit teams and watched a lot of their games and haven’t seen that happen. And I don’t think it’s happened for any other sports team up there. Just odd to me. Not hating but it just doesn’t make sense really.

@robmac619 @barstoolsports So? Two different countries still. I get it that Buffalo is right at the border but still doesn’t make sense at all. They don’t do this for other sports like MLB or NBA when they aren’t playing Toronto.

@ChiefsNStonks @mattderrick I don't see the players having problems with Vrabes coaching but it's another thing if he can't focus on coaching well and it affects his ability to coach. And obviously that breeds distrust

It’s entirely possible Vrabel doesn’t survive this if drips keep coming. I just can’t reconcile that Mike Vrabel could be fired by or would have to hand his resignation to Robert Kraft. If Vrabel is considered unfit to coach in the NFL, Kraft is unfit to own an NFL team.
Matt Cannata@CannataPFSN

As someone who used to work in public relations and often dealt with crisis communications, I see this whole Russini-Vrabel affair resulting in Vrabel resigning. It is going to be hit after hit after hit, and then there will be one bombshell that makes it all spill over the top.

@robmac619 @SickosCommittee No worries, it's a weird quirk of the relationship between Québec and Canada. Another fun one, when Canada is celebrating its national day (July 1st), in Québec it's moving day, as most if not all rents start/end on July 1st.
