@piersmorgan Replace master class with disaster class. Goal was against the run of play. Then England parked the bus and did so very poorly. Argentina might have scored 5. Does England have the depth to bench Saka? They aren’t Spain or France. #ArgentinaEngland #WorldCup

@JosinaAnderson It’s wonderful a lot of people who don’t watch much soccer are tuning in, but that’s an uncontroversial penalty. Tracking the ball with one’s eyes is totally irrelevant in this sport. An attacking player was kicked in the box by a defender who didn’t touch the ball. Case closed

I changed my mind: Actually, the more I watch this, the more I see both* players were tracking the ball with their eyes & then both committed to a football moment at the exact same time. I feel these simultaneous actions should cancel out any penalty. One score in this game is too consequential.
JosinaAnderson@JosinaAnderson

I mean, Lamine Yamal of #Spain also ran into Lucas Digne’s kick leg from #France while Digne had already committed to the football movement. That’s how I feel it should* be interpreted. 💁🏾‍♀️

@MadridPreeti This is a completely obvious and uncontroversial penalty. The upper arm is not the hand and the call has nothing to do with Argentina.

🚨 Yamal with a clear hand ball before Lucas Digne tried to clear the ball. Mbappe tried his best to call for a VAR review but the Ref didn't budge Why is it that every challenge against Argentina is always checked but for other teams, never. Different Rules for Argentina🤯

@STiofainSF @sfstandard Much to the contrary, anyone that knows anything understands that the Bay Area has the best food in the US—including, apparently, Michelin.

@sfstandard lol. Absolutely no correlation between Michelin funding sources and restaurants they give stars. There is literally no one outside of SF that considers SF or the Bay Area a capital of fine dining.

You’ve got to give the card for simulation. Clear and obvious decision. @BreelEmbolo97 made a moral mistake: he shouldn’t be diving. But also a tactical one: he needs to know he’s on a yellow and there’s so little to gain this far from goal. #argentina #switzerland #worldcup

This isn’t a “good run” for the #USMNT. The US had a strong team 25 years ago. They’ve regressed relative to the rest of the world. The lack of technique on display was almost impossible to watch.

Breaking @TheAthleticFC FIFA Appeal Committee has rendered request by Belgian FA as “inadmissible” as Belgium “not a party to the proceedings and, as such, has no standing to appeal the decision.” Which means according to FIFA, Balogun can play tonight nytimes.com/athletic/74247…

Red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. They are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies. If a U.S. President intervenes with the FIFA President — and a player is suddenly cleared before a World Cup knockout match — the question is unavoidable: Quo vadis, FIFA? Football must never become a playground for political power. #FIFA #WorldCup #GianniInfantino #DonaldTrump

So is David Beckham like the GOAT of English soccer, or is he more famous for being handsome & being married to Spice jawn? Can someone explain in NBA terms? As a kid I think I assumed he was way better than he actually was. Is he actually like the Tristan Thompson of soccer?

@stoolpresidente The difference between Belgium and the US is that in Belgium, we don’t have a president with a FIFA Peace Prize, a direct line to Infantino, and a complete absence of moral fiber.

The difference between Belgium and the United States is that in the United States we always want to beat the best. The US Mens team wouldnt have even taken the field if Belgiums best player was unfairly suspended. Apparently Belgium wants the easy way out Very sad European behavior

🚨⚠️ OFFICIAL: Belgian Federation statement on Folarin Balogun red card case, saying they are “astonished”. “The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is astonished by FIFA's decision to declare suspended United States player Folarin Balogun eligible to play in the USA–Belgium match on Monday, 6 July at 5:00 p.m. (Seattle time). FIFA bases its decision on Article 27 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. This provision states that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee may decide to suspend the enforcement of a previously imposed disciplinary sanction. However, Article 66.4 of the same FIFA Disciplinary Code clearly provides that a red card (sending-off) automatically results in a suspension for the team's next match, as has been the case for all previous red cards issued during this FIFA World Cup. Furthermore, and irrespective of the above, the decision is in direct contradiction with the provisions of the FIFA World Cup 2026 Competition Regulations, as set out in Article 10.5: "If a player or team official is sent off as a result of a direct or indirect red card (second caution), they will automatically be suspended from their team's subsequent match. In addition, further sanctions may be imposed.” The automatic nature of such a suspension was also explicitly reaffirmed in FIFA World Cup 2026 Circular No. 16, which was distributed to all participating member associations on 12 May 2026. The same rule is reiterated at every FIFA World Cup 2026 Match Coordination Meeting prior to each match and is included in all FIFA World Cup 2026 workshop presentations. ❗️In order to safeguard the legitimate rights of all participating teams and to protect the fundamental principles of fair play in our sport, both at this FIFA World Cup and at future editions of the tournament, the RBFA is investigating all potential options.”

@hf_niko @FabrizioRomano Nope. What an absurd and illogical reply. Teams shouldn’t protest the disciplinary rulings of a game they weren’t involved in. Looks weak and unsporting to wish for a player to be wrongfully unavailable.

@robobaggio @FabrizioRomano so during the match, if another player from any team gets a red card, the other team should agree to not send him off because they want to "face opponents at their best" ?? That's stupid af 😂

@norway should be totally embarrassed about their capitulation today in the #worldcup. Everything to play for (avoiding CIV and then Brazil) vs a weak Germany, fans traveling, and they refuse to compete vs a France side on questionable form? This was the country of the Vikings?

@FiddlesPicks This makes it even clearer that it’s Wemby’s fault. Either you hit the guard off zero or one dribbles or you’re taking it up yourself. My sense is he wanted to take it up himself, saw Brunson, and passed out of panic. Not good.

The ~24,800-vote tranche with zero for Pratt showed up on media live dashboards (NBC and similar) during early Wednesday, June 3 updates as cumulative mail totals refreshed. LA County releases only periodic cumulative snapshots at results.lavote.gov — no public per-batch candidate breakdowns or exact originating timestamps. Check archived NBC Decision Desk streams or contemporaneous screenshots for the visible % drop. Full canvass will add clarity.

I’m not a big election fraud guy - but the 24,000 ballot drop showing Spencer Pratt didn’t receive a single vote, is just not realistically possible. Irreducible error rate is even more prevalent when functional literacy of LA is 50%.

@unusual_whales What kind of retort is this? The “speaking German” line is meant to invoke Nazism, that the US saved England from the takeover of a totalitarian regime. What is so bad about “speaking French”? Is the argument that England saved the US from fine wine, cheese and high fashion?
