I was talking to @operaqueenie about this at lunch. Fried and all these other Owners would have us believe that people are spending all day arguing about these issues instead of working. I think it's important to address that fallacy.

"leave politics at home" is not just a privileged stance. It's a luxury. A luxury completely out of reach for ppl not in the majority. The way these ppl interact with the community leaves no room for ignorance. They know what they're saying and are counting on your silence.

"Sensitivities are at 11, and every discussion remotely related to politics, advocacy, or society at large quickly spins away from pleasant." They are quite literally telling you they value their _comfort_ over the _safety_ of others. So what are you doing about it? Nothing?

@robodana I mean I’m going with the “if you triple your age & it seems like you’ll be dead by then you’re probly in midlife” measure. But also the general principle that a) trans people over 30 exist & b) the transmasc fountain of youth phenomenon is not an excuse to infantilise us.

A billionaire pays millions to keep up with their lifestyle, and usually have a big chunk of their money invested so they can't really access it at will.

So what some see as punitive ("taking" a job from a bigoted person) others may see as transformative (making the workplace safer for others and creating a standard for workplaces that considers the safety of ALL workers especially those who have typically been made unsafe)

So let me get this straight. To build my React Native app for iOS, I'm running rbenv to manage versions of ruby, and then running bundler to manage ruby packages, and then using a ruby package called CocoaPods to install Objective-C/Swift dependencies.
