To say I’m disappointed in the joint statement by leaders from France, Germany and the UK regarding Operation Epic Fury is an understatement. Thank you to the Search Engine Optimization community for this lovely tribute to my mom @jillwhalen. I know her passing comes as a shock to everyone because she refused to tell people she was sick, but that’s just how she was. Stubborn until the end. The SEO folks saw the professional side of what I saw at home as a kid in the 90s and early 00s. When my mom intuitively understood something—and she very much GOT search early—she pursued it with relentlessly high standards, bluntness, but also kindness. At her core, she wanted to help. She’s done this in so many facets of her life, and most recently with her oldest grandchild, my son Max. It will always be so unfair that he lost that at only four, and that his brother Xander only knew her for a few months, and while she was very sick. She was “Amma” with the same passion she was an SEO pioneer from the back porch turned office, helping to invent an industry out of scratch. Both were remarkable to watch as her daughter.

@MarkPreston1969 Google could stop other companies bidding on brand, but they don’t, as it’s profitable for them. Brands can either sit by and watch other companies hijack brand related search terms, or stump up cash and dominate the number one spot. Google wins, and the consumer pays for it

Ammon tnx! for Example even if you could take CC many SE choked on parameters before Google so I had to figure out how to maintain state w/o parameters. Knowledge of how SE work and users use sites was the key to solving it 👇👇👇👇👇

@robwatts I wonder if they are using CTR on their re-written titles and descriptions which is the REAL measure of the effectiveness of titles and descriptions. It seems the re-writes are more about removing "marketing speak" to make generic "just the facts mam" type titles & descriptions
