@jorymicah A nice anti semitic trope to start a thread. But yeah, am sure you’re one of the good guys.

Today I will be at Craven Cottage to watch @FulhamFC vs @ManUtd. I spend a total of 10 years between the clubs and enjoyed all of my time in @premierleague for both. Meeting new friends and experiences with my family in London gave me a new perspective which led to a succesful period for my career.

@TonyEvans92a You’re right but it’s Netanyahu and his cohort who keep conflating anti-semitism with anti-apartheid/genocide. They are the ones who are creating a generation of anti-semites; because they keep insisting that if you’re opposed to this genocide then you’re an antisemite.

Do not let Israel’s behaviour make you anti-Semitic. The Holocaust was the greatest outrage in history. Israel’s actions are appalling and there are many Jews who are sickened by it. And, of course, the Hamas attack was despicable. Lots of things can be true at once

Prime Sol Campbell vs Prime Virgil Van Dijk like these old heads need to give up man, Sol backed himself but prime VVD is so clear of any defender in prem history its not even close. Prime Van Dijk was second in ballon d’or and wasn’t dribbled past for an odd 70games during 18-20 szns, he had rival fans celebrating if their player dribbled past him like cmon 😭😭😭

Jeremy Corbyn basically said “Let’s just treat people a little better and not make life so difficult for everyone, at the expense of the rich being slightly less rich,” and the subsequent political smear campaign reached levels never before seen in the West. This is who they are.

Pretty direct and heavy language on the realities of United's financial situation in that response from the club to the 1958.

@tactixology Spot on. Many elite players have moved clubs and looked shit. Eventually people will realise it’s a team sport.

The problem with player quality is that pundits, fans and some analysts treat it as a binary and static category. A player is good or he is not good. The team has great players or the team has poor players. These takes are dished out with little regard to context: tactical compatibility, team chemistry, player partnerships, manager’s requirements, club situation / external pressure. A player might perform well because: • correctly profiled when recruited = realistic expectations & dev plan • role within the system highlighting his qualities and hiding his flaws • physical attributes and technical traits compatible with teammates • productive partnerships within the team • club in positive situation = no pressure • dressing room atmosphere (fair wage structure, meritocracy without favoritism) Some of these are imponderables, naturally making it harder for pundits to grasp or articulate. Therefore, for them, a player is either elite or he is shit. In reality, a player might be great in one context and lousy in another, depending on whether he’s told to hold width or move inside, to progress quickly or retain, whether he has a good partnership with an overlapping FB, whether his physical & technical traits are suitable for the IP and OOP requirements, whether the club is in a negative spiral etc. But all of gets ignored, in favor of a more digestable narrative that someone is “just not good enough”, even though he was very good indeed before joining or under the previous manager. This is obviously quite pronounced when a team does poorly, leading to wildly unbalanced takes and scapegoating.

@OhCheesesChrist @barneyrednews Wouldn’t necessarily assume it’s greedy owners keen to pocket the money. Tony Bloom has pumped millions of his own cash into BHA. So why does he put ticket prices up? He’s not taking it for himself right? The clue is in the operating costs and the spiralling wages of players.

The Premier League Clubs: A Cash Grab Disguised as Football It's become painfully obvious – Premier League clubs prioritise profit over the loyal fans who built them. Forget filling seats; it's about squeezing every last pound from supporters. The problem is multifaceted: - Broadcasters pay a fortune, but clubs still relentlessly hike ticket prices. - The proposed Football Regulator seems toothless on ticketing issues. - The Premier League itself prioritises its global image over fan affordability. - Premier League Clubs, once pillars of their communities, now chase corporate pounds, ignoring the fans who stood by them through thick and thin. Look at @KieranMaguire post, Brighton's season ticket prices for next season. They could easily charge tourists £200 per ticket for the "big 6" and yield £300 profit over a season on a Zone D season ticket and then 13 extra games to maximise even more. This model will become the norm as clubs look at money and purely money over supporters. And what's with all the concession removals, more profit, and more squeeze on the supporters? Yet another club to force a supporter into ensuring they attend X games of the 19. This isn't about supporters in the ground but money in the clubs' bank accounts. The Denial: Clubs will deny it, of course. But the evidence is clear: maximising revenue, not rewarding loyalty, is the driving force. This isn't just about affordability; it's about the soul of the game. When clubs price out ordinary fans, they erode the atmosphere and passion that makes football special. Something needs to change, but is it already too late?
Kieran Maguire@KieranMaguire

Brighton increase season ticket prices by 5% for 2025/26, increase senior concession discounts from 65 to 66 years of age (from 2026/27) and plan to reduce the discount for seniors to 25% by 2027/28 and 20% by 2029/30. STH who miss more than 5 matches on 2025/26 (and do not list their tickets on the exchange) will not be able to auto renew their ST in 2026/27
