The lack of aliens in the series showcases that Tony Gilroy think's he's above the material and that aliens would get in the way of his serious political show. When we do see aliens they are for the most part the same generic looking awful one's that most of Disney's Star Wars movies and series have. When you have a universe full of so many iconic and well known species of creatures it's a damn shame to shrink it down like this just because you'd clearly just be making some generic sci-fi show instead.

To what I'm sure is all of our shock and surprise, he stumbles through an entire minute-long answer without once indicating that he likes any Star Wars other than Andor, the show he made.
