Precisely! I believe the average life of a mortgage loan is 7-8 years accounting for the fact majority of mortgages are refinanced. AND the banks get their interest accrual front loaded? Just criminal! I’d be curious what the effective interest you’re actually paying the first 10 years of the term assuming one might refinance the loan.

I’ve paid $107,000 towards my mortgage since I bought my house in 2020. My principal has gone down by only $27,000. Interest and taxes SUCK

@DarkMiner @DividendRob I am not even sure how banks got away with “mortgage-style amortization” to begin with, essentially front loading all the interest over the term.

HR: We lost a high-performing employee today. CEO: What happened? HR: The company hired someone fresh out of college into the same role and paid them more than him, even after he gave us 11 years. CEO: But we pay well for this job. HR: He earns 55,000 after more than a decade of loyalty. The new hire started at 70,000. CEO: That’s unfortunate, but that’s the market rate for new talent. HR: And now we’ve lost the person who actually carried the role for years. CEO: Fine. Declare the position vacant. HR: With what budget? CEO: 80,000 starting salary. Companies will underpay loyal employees for years, then suddenly find a bigger budget the moment those employees leave. The problem is rarely money. It is how little they value the people who stayed.

@ChrisMMillas Good time to buy ITM Call options expiring in Jun 2028? Could be a pretty insane asymmetric bet. Going for about ~$6k a contract right now and have two years to assess the trade. I'm considering buying a couple contracts my self at these levels.

BREAKING: The U.S. Senate has confirmed an April markup for the CLARITY Act. Senate markup is confirmed for the second half of April. Final passage is targeted for May and Senator Moreno has warned that if the bill does not pass by then, digital asset legislation will not receive serious consideration again before 2027. The entire fight comes down to stablecoin yield. The current draft bans passive yield, users cannot earn by simply holding stablecoins. Activity based rewards for payments and transfers are still allowed. That distinction puts $1.35 billion of Coinbase's annual revenue directly at risk, nearly one fifth of everything the company earns. Coinbase has rejected the bill twice and is now coordinating a formal counterproposal with multiple major crypto firms to get the language changed before the draft hardens. Banks are pushing in the opposite direction. Jamie Dimon and Brian Armstrong have reportedly clashed directly over stablecoin economics. April is the window. Everything gets decided in the next four weeks.

It’s a good one and I think has a lot of merit. It’s interesting too that @rcwhalen was mentioning something similar on a recent podcast along the same lines that retail capital probably has no business being invested in private credit vehicles if they can’t stomach the volatility and respect the duration.

I have a SCALDING HOT TAKE on private credit: Private credit funds should maximally enforce their redemption gates to teach the hot money contingent of their investor base a lesson about investing in private assets. It’s unfair for these investors to benefit from well-above-market returns with such low volatility due to the limited marking to market of the assets only to then get the liquidity they desire the second they want their money back. Whomever is making withdrawal requests right now is trying to game the global financial system and the funds shouldn’t allow it. You don’t get to collect the illiquidity premium AND get ample liquidity on demand. That’s total BS. Know what you own or suffer the consequences. 💜
