The Nigerian bourgeoisie produces nothing but consumption. No extraction, no production, no bone-grinding labor, only the endless reproduction of pleasure as status. They live to enjoy, they enjoy to live, and they call that freedom. In truth, it is parasitism raised to a...

In 2024, The Independent ranked Philip Seymour Hoffman the #1 actor of the 21st century. Above Daniel Day-Lewis at #3. Above Leonardo DiCaprio at #17. I went through his full career data and the case is kind of airtight. 55 films in 22 years. 4 Oscar nominations across both lead and supporting, which almost never happens for the same actor. He won Best Actor for playing Truman Capote in 2005, spent four months studying the writer’s voice from old recordings, and refused to break character during the entire shoot because he was scared his body would “bail on him” if he dropped it. Won the Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG Award for the same role. Three Tony nominations on Broadway. And the range is where it gets absurd. Boogie Nights, he’s a lonely boom operator falling for a porn star. In Happiness, a guy making obscene phone calls to strangers. Magnolia flips him into a gentle nurse at a dying man’s bedside. He was a loud rock journalist in Almost Famous, a Catholic priest accused of child abuse in Doubt, a cult leader in The Master who may or may not believe his own teachings. And in MI3, the scene in this clip, he played a weapons dealer so dangerous he made Tom Cruise look helpless. Did all of it while looking bored. Same face. Every role, a completely different person living inside it. He worked with Paul Thomas Anderson five times over 15 years. Started as an unnamed gambler in Anderson’s first movie, ended as co-lead of The Master, where he and Joaquin Phoenix split the best actor prize at Venice. When Hoffman died in 2014 at 46, Anderson eventually cast his son Cooper in Licorice Pizza. Joel Schumacher said it in 2000: “The bad news is that Philip won’t be a $25-million star. The good news is that he’ll work for the rest of his life.” He was right about the first part. And wrong about the second.

Philip Seymour Hoffman intentionally played Owen Davian as "bored" in Mission: Impossible III (2006). He believed a true sociopath wouldn't be theatrical, his lack of emotion made him the most terrifying antagonist in the entire franchise.

@heis_fede 8 goals for Brazil. And your only defending him cause he’s a Madrid player. Brazil shirt means way more than Real Madrid. Madrid fans have ruined this convo with their tribalism. Vini sucks for Brazil it’s fact. You can’t dress it up.

@Santoss_CFC A main reason we are in this position is him if the game against Madrid at the bridge stay 2-1 then we beat them at the Bernadette and we dont lose our soul in that stadium or lose tuchel. We have had so many moronic bums in this club too long. Stupidity is a cancer at this club

🎙️Galvão Bueno: “If we say you already have 18 players & I know there are 3 injured players you rely on, Militão, Bruno Guimarães, & Estêvão, that brings the number to 21, & if we convince you about Neymar, it becomes 22, with 4 seats available?” 🎙️Carlo Ancelotti: “Yes, 4 seats. We have a lot of doubts.”
