There is a way to solve this, @rom1payet - you get the EU to organise a pool of rolling stock as @AnnaDeparnay says - and that way you achieve economies of scale, and the stock you procure needs to be interoperable. And @EIB can help with finance... #EUYearOfRail

@rom1payet @AnnaDeparnay @EIB We have it very well detailed on our website: trainsforeurope.eu/detail/what-ar… You need minimum standards of interoperability, so if one firm goes to the wall the carriages can be redeployed for others.

@TrainsForEurope @AnnaDeparnay @EIB @TrainsForEurope a pool of rolling stock does not solve the issue of maintenance site location. If maintenance of the pool of rolling stock is done in Germany, not sure it will be of interest for operators in France for example.

With the huge Bilbao station still in the planning process, building it will take some 7 years (without disrupting the service). You might get a partial opening between Irun-Vitoria, but that will still take some years.

Works will run until end of 23. By 24 (hopefully) the "Y basque" should be ok (UIC track connecting Bilbao, Irun & Vitoria). Finally the cambiador at Irun is now closed. Replaced by Vitoria (24)

I have for ex in mind the Huesca-Canfranc-Oloron-Pau line. (🇪🇸 is supporting the reopening of the Canfranc tunnel, with 🇪🇺, but not 🇫🇷 🤦) What's your opinion on it?

We are well aware of the technical constraints for the routes to Edinburgh and Spain. We are discussing them every day with manufacturers and infra. managers to find solutions

We are now trying to launch a first route in 2024 and then expand the network. Coaches fleet might not be the same for all the routes.
