There were times when Hungary was the most successful and prosperous country in Central Europe.
Not anymore. Under current leadership, it has become a prime example of how to throttle its economy while all neighbors are running ahead and enjoy growth and prosperity.

A newly discovered fossil ape from northern Egypt is reshaping the understanding of early hominoid evolution, researchers report in Science.
The fossil finding suggests that the closest ancestors to modern apes may have emerged in northern Africa, outside the traditionally studied regions of East Africa. scim.ag/4szvRIS

The Apollo 11 lunar module, Eagle, touched down on the Moon on July 20, 1969, with only about 20–25 seconds of usable fuel remaining before an abort would have been required. During the final stage of descent, commander Neil Armstrong took manual control after realizing the automatic landing system was guiding the module toward a hazardous area filled with large boulders and craters. He carefully flew the spacecraft forward to find a safer landing spot while the fuel supply continued to drop.
At the same time, the Apollo Guidance Computer began triggering multiple program alarms (1201 and 1202) due to data overload, adding to the tension of the moment. Despite the warnings, the system remained functional and Mission Control confirmed it was safe to continue.
Armstrong’s manual maneuvering used additional propellant, and as the descent continued, Mission Control called out the remaining time: first 60 seconds, then 30. By the time Eagle finally landed safely, only a small fuel margin remained — roughly 20–25 seconds before a mandatory abort.
The successful landing became one of the most dramatic moments in spaceflight history, showcasing Armstrong’s exceptional piloting skill, calm decision-making, and the courage of the entire Apollo 11 team in a genuinely perilous situation.

The crazy, beautiful thin line of air between us and space.
Living in orbit I would often look to Earth's horizon, marvelling at how bizarrely thin our atmosphere is. Half of all air is in the first 3 mi/5 km. A common running distance.
Sometimes big thunderheads were visible, pushing to the edge of the stratosphere. Above that, the coloured aura of the mesosphere, and then eternal empty blackness. Lit by an occasional star, like a small lightbulb in a vast darkened hall.
Let's appreciate and take responsibility for our planet.

A $2.5 billion robot has been alone on another planet for 13 years and is still doing science. The scale of that sentence gets worse the longer you think about it.
Curiosity landed in August 2012. Obama was president. Instagram had 80 million users. The iPhone 5 hadn’t shipped yet. The rover was designed for a two-year mission and 20 kilometers of driving. It’s now driven 35.5 kilometers, climbed over 327 meters up the side of a mountain, drilled 46 holes into Martian rock, and is currently running its fifth mission extension.
The computer running all of this has 256 MB of RAM and a 200 MHz processor. Your AirPods have more computing power. Every command sent from Earth takes 14 minutes to arrive. Every photo sent back takes the same 14 minutes. When Curiosity drills into a rock, the team in Pasadena won’t know if it worked for half an hour. They’ve been operating on that delay, every single day, for 4,846 Martian sols.
The power source is 10.6 pounds of plutonium-238 generating about 110 watts. Less than a ceiling fan. It will keep producing electricity for decades because the half-life of Pu-238 is 87.7 years. The rover will run out of moving parts before it runs out of power.
And those wheels. Machined from single blocks of aluminum, 0.75 millimeters thick. Half a dime. JPL watched them get shredded by Martian rock starting in 2013, rerouted the entire mission path, taught the rover to drive backwards, and kept going. The wheels look like they lost a fight with a can opener. The rover is still climbing a mountain.
Every iPhone you’ve owned since 2012 is in a landfill. Curiosity is on Mars, 140 million miles from the nearest repair shop, running on a ceiling fan’s worth of nuclear power, sending data through a 14-minute time delay, on shredded wheels, doing geology that rewrites what we know about whether life ever existed somewhere other than Earth.
We built that. With 0.01% of the federal budget.

Kochani,
tak jak obiecałem, ruszyła zbiórka dla 17-letniego Dominika, który cały czas walczy w szpitalu.
Do tragedii doszło 14 lutego. Dominik został wciągnięty pod pociąg w chwili, gdy pomagał pasażerce wynieść wózek z dzieckiem.
Zrobił krok w stronę drugiego człowieka. Dziś walczy o własne zdrowie i życie.
Przy nim cały czas są jego kochani rodzice, którzy każdego dnia przeżywają to razem z nim i robią wszystko, by wrócił do zdrowia.
Bardzo liczę na Wasze wsparcie. Każda wpłata i każde podanie dalej mają ogromne znaczenie.
