It is the direct result of political choices, austerity and an economic system that puts profit before people. That must change. This morning, Doctors Against Genocide and CODEPINK tried to deliver our petition with over 7,000 signatures to the American Medical Association to urge them to speak up for the doctors being imprisoned and tortured by Israel, like Dr Hussam Abu Safiya.
The AMA refused to let us in, sent security, and told us their offices had changed locations.
This is shameful behaviour from the largest association of doctors in the United States.

In a 2009 interview, then president Hugo Chávez rejected claims that he was “paranoid” about the United States, arguing that US hostility toward Venezuela was driven by oil.
