When I started playing in the 80s, 470yds was the starting distance for par 5s
470 now, for long players, is driver & short iron. That is part of the problem

any pros complaining about setup need to realize the PGA has to push the line because of the equipment they play and the dumbing down of golf that it causes
if u want to hit 350 plus drives and have wedges u get really tough pin locations only way to make it a challenge

Good news for Langston and Rock Creek. Both courses were in limbo; the administration didn't seem to have any interest in them, and no other viable operators were stepping forward.
But the effort to transform East Potomac into a high-end major championship venue will continue to be a battle. That vision for the facility would just be so hard to execute — logistically, legally, financially.

After months of uncertainty, the Trump administration agreed to a deal that gives National Links Trust oversight of Langston and Rock Creek Park golf courses. Govt will be renovate East Potomac golf course. More coming soon... Lots happening for DC's public courses tonight
