Can you imagine in any other industry this being said out proudly? And look at the likes. What we need is more tick boxes and hurdles that demonstrate that the organisation is a closed club. Do not question. Do not entertain any other view.

@Dr_Done_ What would people who have most recently worked elsewhere in multiple different sites be able to contribute to improving patient care…

@ronansetron “She just doesn’t have the vernacular that she thinks that she possesses” ⬆️ Literally immortalise this in the national archives. Every line - perfection. Delivery - stunning. Attitude - exemplary. The smirk near the end - knew that she slayed.

“[…] tells me everything I need to know about your grasp on the topography of the junior workforce crisis” this is poetry. this is Shakespearean. this is up there with the Tiffany Pollard/Gemma Collins speech. 👏

@Foreman1David @wendyburn @Xeon4f145d96s1 The fact that you have no idea that this is one of the most prominent resident doctor social media accounts tells me everything I need to know about your grasp on the topography of the junior workforce crisis

@ronansetron @Greg0wen Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that in the UK at least there were no career restrictions on someone who was HIV positive, and no restrictions on their duties provided they have an undetectable viral load.

1/3 Not to put this person on blast (genuinely) & I know it's human nature to fret (I've been there). *BUT* such extreme reactions to the possibility of contracting HIV actually contribute to the stigma surrounding HIV. I understand & empathise, but I also think we can do better

@Greg0wen I’m between two minds on this because -someone in healthcare really should be better-educated on what HIV means TODAY, and not have such an extreme reaction -I’ve been there, and the “what about my career” fear is real, particularly when you’re early on—you’re *so* vulnerable

@Greg0wen okay, but this person works in healthcare, potentially a doctor (or medical student), and a HIV diagnosis could have significant, career-altering implications for that going forward, particularly if they’re considering working internationally. I don’t think it’s that extreme.

@TheSnoozeDoctor will probably never be able to afford to buy property here, even a 1-bed, because at each salary rise, the house prices have risen too, and 4.5x CT3 salary doesn’t get you over the 300k mark 😭

I’d say my two bedroom flat in Fulham hoovers up about 50% of my disposable income. As for food, I’m probably well below the average for a singleton, largely because my lovely Punjabi neighbour, now in her 80s, insists on feeding me. I do try to say no… 😉

Herein lies one of the many inherent NHS staffing contradictions. If a consultant with the breadth of a medical degree and some ED adjacent skills (resus and airway management) behind them requires their notes reviewing - why is an ENP or PA not deserving of the same scrutiny?
David Hartin@davehartin

I think if I was in a position of authority in this ED, I'd be reviewing every single chart of the "hordes" this person may, or may not, have seen... #VeryCompetent

Theres a secret graveyard in Trinity College. Tucked between the Chapel and the Dining Hall, beside an ATM you`ll see a small iron railing surrounding a patch of grass and two centuries old graves. This tiny enclosure holds the bones of the men who shaped the university’s earliest identity. TCD, in all its grandeur and self-importance, began with this corner. Luke Chaloner is the reason the college exists at all. Born around 1550 and trained at Trinity College, Cambridge, he came to Dublin as part of the great Elizabethan academic export project. Chaloner fell in love with the little city and its peope and negotiated directly with Queen Elizabeth for the site of the old Priory of All Hallows, secured money, recruited fellows and students, and even put his own books and funds on the line to give the new college credibility. When he died on the 27th of April 1613, they buried him in the original College Chapel. Over his tomb they placed this inscription “Under this staircase lies Chaloner’s sad carcase, by whose prayers and entreaties this house now so great is.” Marvellous epitaph. Chaloner’s resting place remained undisturbed until 1798, when the old chapel was demolished to build the current one. In the rebuilding, his grave was left exposed in a corner of the new structure. The delicate alabaster effigy that had covered his tomb began to melt under the Dublin weather. Students of the nineteenth century described it as a “misshapen mass” and that disfigured effigy became a landmark for "Chaloner’s Corner.” Iron railings were eventually put up to protect it, and Chaloner got some company. Beside him lies Francis Andrews, Provost from 1758 to 1774. Andrews left Trinity an enormous fortune of £3,000, money used to establish the Andrews Chair of Astronomy and to build our Dunsink Observatory in Blanchardstown. Let's not forget there are definetely other bodies buried beneath the college, but perhaps the most interesting ones for me are the human remains excavated just outside the gates on College Green for the Luas Cross City project. They dated back to medieval times or earlier when there was a mysterious Viking warriors burial ground in the marshes where College Green/Dame Street now stands.

@ExplosiveEnema2 Alison blocked me after a minor disagreement. Frequently disingenuous (dare I say hypocritical) on workforce substitution. Recognises it as a problem when NAs replace nurses, but not when nurses/AHPs replace doctors. No criticism that I have seen of her has been sexist.

I take issue with this Alison is not and has never been blocked by me so she has infinite right of reply When asked difficult questions, she pivots to unrelated sexism When everything is sexism it loses all meaning Using sexism in this way robs women of vital language we need

For me, this silly meme quite nicely sums up the main reason to remain anonymous #BeKind really is the weaponised threat to #BeSilent @RobLaurensonD4P explains it eloquently below in response to one of the prime sea-lioning bad-faith actors in the space currently
Dr Huw tweet media
Dr Robert Laurenson@RobLaurensonD4P

No one has faith in the culture of the NHS or GMC to allow raising concerns. Raising concerns is almost always met with implicit threats, the consequences of which can be life destroying quite literally. There have been suicides induced by GMC investigation. There is enormous political support and financial backing to force this agenda through. The same political support that has seen whistleblowers like @drcmday crushed despite evidence of 90k emails being deleted and the judiciary turning a blind eye. In Britain today you can say you’ve been insulted and then phone the police like @mattster has experienced. It is really not hard to understand why anons are anon.

@blurghmeh @Xeon4f145d96s1 @wesstreeting 10k applications for <500 posts for psychiatry residency/training programme. Up until about 7 years ago, psychiatry had fewer applicants than places (making it a “hard to fill” specialty). So 5,000% increase in applications in that period.
