But they didn't just abandon Drs They abandoned the PAs who they spent the past decade lying to. And now we have a cohort of graduates facing anxiety around job losses while College Leaders clink wine glasses in Grand Halls congratulating eachother for a job well done Cowards

When I was a nine-year-old schoolgirl, my teacher asked us to write a news article. She told me, 'All I want to know is Who, What, Where, When, and Why.' It took me two attempts, but I finally produced a piece that she said satisfied exactly what a reader needs to know. So, let us play teacher with Chris Mason today. Let us look at how he manipulates and manufactures drama for the BBC, a service we pay for. Who: He cites 'friends and allies' of Wes Streeting, using anonymous whispers instead of a single official statement from a man who has neither resigned nor told the media he is standing. What: He describes 'jostling on the start line' of a race that does not officially exist, masquerading speculation as a foregone conclusion. Where: He sets the scene in a fictionalised 'expected race for leader', ignoring the reality that governance happens in departments, not in a journalist’s imagination. When: He claims a challenge is 'imminent' to create a false sense of urgency, despite no confirmation of any such move. Why: He does it to feed the 'anger factory' and secure clicks, knowingly trading national stability for media ratings. Journalism is supposed to inform citizens, not project chaos. @ChrisMasonBBC has failed my teacher’s test. He is not reporting the news, he is attempting to invent it. Do we pay the BBC so that journalists can play soap opera directors with our future? #BBC #ChrisMason #Journalism #UKPolitics #Starmer #WesStreeting #Truth #Accountability

Nice side effect of this change is that we will get to hear all the justifications for delaying further strikes New minister, need time... All while the mandate runs down
The BMA@TheBMA

Wes Streeting's resignation comes at a critical time, with all major groups of NHS doctors in England currently in dispute with the Government. We look forward to working with the new Secretary of State to address the issues facing doctors, health services and patients ASAP.

On behalf of their client, Zara Sultana, Bindmans Media and Information Law Practise Group requires that I publish the following statement on X, and that such statement must be clearly visible and pinned to my profile for a continuous period of no less than 24 hours: “On 30 March 2026, I published a post on my X account addressed to Zarah Sultana in which I stated that she encourages and incites violence and is friends with terrorists. Those statements are false. I was wrong and offer my sincere apologies to Ms Sultana for the harm and distress caused to her.” It is my very great pleasure to do this, and I reiterate my sincere and repeated offer to meet with Miss Zara Sultana in person to resolve our differences.

Just a thought. Wes Streeting owes his political status to the support he’s received over years from Peter Mandelson & Morgan McSweeney at Labour Together. He wouldn’t make a move against Keir Starmer without Mandelson’s say so. So look on this as Mandelson’s & Morgan’s revenge.

@ExplosiveEnema2 And a lot of the senior registrars there i worked with are now consultants there. LRI ED did have a lot of east mids GPVTS rotating through there who iirc had similarly good experiences there despite working there in a challenging covid wave.

Want to know why mainstream media is dead? Because the public get more honest information from a community note on @X with @elonmusk The NHS is a mess & instead of holding @wesstreeting to account, journalists are frothing over a leadership campaign Where are your priorities?

Under Labour, NHS waiting lists are falling, ambulances are arriving faster, there are more GPs, and higher patient satisfaction. Lots done, lots to do. The Health Bill will boost the impact of our investment and modernisation: cutting bureaucracy to invest in patient care.

So…basically anyone - whatever their base profession- can do anything related to “general medicine” now in the NHS Whether that be a GP, Acute Medicine or Medical Registrar In short? Having failed to convince more doctors to do GIM or its ilk? The system has decided ‘anyone’ can do it. What is that campaign ran by the @RCPhysicians once upon a time.. Ah yes #MedicineIsBrilliant 😎

@ConorGogarty Hi Conor 👋 There should be a paper tail including who specifically in the senior management team closed the datix It's in the public interest to know who exactly tried to sweep this under the carpet The PA is at fault, but there is a wider cover-up here enabled from the top

Indeed, we have seen a log on the NHS' Datix reporting system showing a hospital employee raised concerns over the PA's conduct in the procedure – alleging "avoidable patient harm and negligence" – yet the log states this report was 'closed' in January, without any explanation.

It turns out I'm blocked by a few of the voices replying to this thread but the common theme is disbelief that NCs are on medical consultant rotas - I don't understand why that would be surprising when there's ample evidence of non-doctors on medical rotas anyway.
Louella Vaughan@DrLKVaughan

The real kicker is that despite not actually being qualified for their own jobs, many were working effectively as doctors. ~20% were working on medical consultant rotas. Clinical expertise was also the area in which NCs felt most confident. 7/

@TJCoats @Mary_Tom11 @hlnewey @trentconsultant system) have created an environment where you will see precisely what the authors of this publication have found - Trusts, encouraged to set their own scope for non-medical clinicians, quietly promote non-qualified internal staff to tier 5 to avoid the Blackpool-style publicity.

I've never interacted with him Appears he's taken a very hands off approach, avoiding many difficult conversations about replacement of residents He's suddenly found his voice after the latest paper about Consultant replacement

I’m curious as to what all the consultants that have minimised the impact of Resident doctor substitution & denied / feigned surprise about non-medics working on consultant rotas have to say as this very deliberate policy direction is slowly & undeniably revealed Very curious🤷‍♂️

They told us APs weren’t replacing doctors, yet the FOIs showed they were. 5000 doctors have shared their grave concerns about how APs are being employed in the NHS and the impacts, including safety fears. We’re sleeping walking into disaster if this isn’t urgently reviewed
The Doctor Magazine@TheDrMagazine

'The only thing they do not do is write death certificates' As @TheBMA publishes a survey of >5,000 doctors on advanced practitioners (APs), @ben_ireland_11 looks at the data and speaks to @Melissa_S_Ryan about how regularly APs are being used as doctor substitutes and the impact on patient safety [1/9] thedoctor.bma.org.uk/articles/life-…
