The Dept of Ed is being WAY more generous w the IDR waiver than anyone realizes. It will mean millions will get HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS in cancellation if they take the appropriate action. See below why. First, borrowers who meet the 12/36 forbearance and deferment rule will have that time counted as "time in repayment." Based on their formula of time in repayment, they will apply credit on a consolidation based on at least the oldest loan. That will result in newer loans getting aggressively forgiven along with older ones. THIS IS A BIG DEAL!!!
