An excellent and important work - it did show that online learning can be costly, especially to academically-at-risk. Universities should rethink their unidirectional push on this, but perhaps the online course design also matters.

So thrilled to see this paper accepted at AER: Insights, a top journal in my field. During the Fall of 2020, @WestPointSOSH allowed my team to use the random assignment of cadets to a F2F or online class to study the effects of remote learning during COVID.
