The footie Bank Holiday thing reveals a lack of awareness of how changed the world of work is. Limited or zero hours contracts. Not paid extra for working bank holidays, weekends or unsociable hours. Probably intended as a feel good plan will only mean extra challenges for many.

@_Unknown_D_ Subsidised housing for as long as needed but remembering that need might mean alternative affordable housing (when that is fiscally an option for a family) might be too far from work, childcare, family, other responsibilities, accessible transport.

I saw a tiktok where a family got a council house and gave the house up when they were financially stable and able to afford something better, to the shock of many. But that’s exactly how council housing should function, as a temporary leg up to gain financial stability. Not subsidised renting for life.

I don't know what’s to be done, but if we do give up Greenland, it will be just a matter of time until some other bits of Europe become “essential to US security.” In the meantime, Canada is almost guaranteed to be next on the menu. Dark days ahead us.

@tamerawallwork_ I have not seen any gritters in the flesh (but I would not) but have seen gritters not managing to keep Dual Carriageways open with 1m plus drifts and winds meaning 5m after it is cleared it needs done again. There is 25cm of snow in my garden. I live on coast exactly sea level

@Fyrishsunset responsibility: keeping safe, contributing to clearing paths/pavements/roads, keeping warm (cardies, duvet over knees, hot water bottle) and not being injudicious in ones actions are something we can all do.

Aberdeenshire Council has *finally* declared a major incident. Only around three days late to the party then. Elsewhere, the Scottish Government remains in its standard, hapless stupor. Whatever happened to initiative, foresight and forward planning, eh? What a mess to be in.

@BronwynChat @AlexNeilSNP me too... two hospital admissions in July - emergency - and while ambulance wait was tricky on second occasion (my communication deficiences on the phone: did not realise how serious it was) I was seen immediately by A&E. I think people forget that triaging happens.

@AlexNeilSNP I must be living in a parallel universe to you On 23rd December there was 3 folk waiting in a&e , the treatment & care my father received was outstanding. My ongoing long term hospital care and monitoring runs like clockwork .

A friend of mine waited 3 hours for an ambulance and then 33 hours on a trolley at Ayr Hospital last week before being allocated a bed. The First Minister’s claim that the SNHS has turned a corner is rubbish. Scotland’s hospitals are in deep crisis and need urgent action NOW.

@Douglas4Moray other misfortunes that befall the laptops in and out of school. (One of the less ...dramatic... someone leaving it on the floor and someone else falling on or moving their chair back on to it; paint spillages; and to be honest, P1 and P2 don't need/can't log in to laptops/2

❄️ Many schools in Moray and across the North East are closed again due to heavy snow. I raised this with the First Minister today. In 2021, he promised every child a laptop so they could learn from home. Another broken SNP promise, and children are paying the price.
