I should add "Wikipedia could be compelled to" is not the same thing as "Wikipedia will". My own estimate of the odds of us demanding identity for all users in order to edit Wikipedia is exactly zero.
At that point, it isn't a regulatory or legal question alone - it gets to be political. Will they dare block Wikipedia if we simply flatly refuse?
Will we need to send them pictures of hamsters in response to fine demands?

I don't think people understand the gravity of the situation as the UN is preparing for possible nuclear weapon use in Iran.
This is a picture of Tehran. For you uneducated, untraveled, never-served, warhawks licking your chops at the thought of bombing it. It's not some low population desert. There are families, children, family pets. Regular working class people with dreams. You're sick to want war.
Tehran is a city of nearly 10,000,000 people. Imagine nuking Washington, Berlin, Paris, London, or beyond, bombed with nuclear weapons.
I gave up my diplomatic career to leak this information. I suspended my duties so as not to be part of or a witness to this crime against humanity, in an attempt to prevent a nuclear winter before it is too late.
Yesterday, nearly ten million people protested “No Kings” in the United States. The possibility of the use of nuclear weapons must be taken very seriously. It's dangerous. Act now. Spread this message worldwide. Take the streets. Protest for our humanity and future. Only the people can stop it. History will remember us.

@Fox_Claire @lara_e_brown @HansardSociety Your contribution so welcomed.
Throughout the passage of this Bill safety for children has been used to justify significant state power grab. Despite warnings that these are dangerous to children, coming from leading child protection and social work experts. And echoed by BASW

@rosearnold @lara_e_brown @HansardSociety Yes, I cited Hansard Society in my speech (through heckles) last week.

Should we ban social media? Are age restrictions for children worth forcing every adult to attach government ID to their online presence.
In @spectator I argue that we are gripped by a moral panic which demonises social media and ignores other factors making childhood worse.

English

@Fox_Claire @lara_e_brown Plus the Govt announcement of introduction of digital identity system only AFTER clause 5 (originally 4) - which establishes wide duty to share info plus consistent identifiers - already passed through HoC and most of HoL has meant inability to understand what is being introduced
English

@rosearnold @lara_e_brown It was between devil and deep blue sea choice. Both amendments awful, just in different ways; I couldn't vote for either

🚨NEWS: UK iPhone users must now prove their age or lose full internet access
"It is absolutely outrageous that, overnight, Apple has put a chokehold on Britons' freedom to search the internet, access information and use apps unless they provide sensitive ID documents.
This means 35 million Brits who have paid hundreds or even thousands of pounds for Apple tech suddenly now have a child's device unless they comply with invasive demands for personal information that go far beyond what UK law requires.
Apple has crossed the Rubicon with this software update which is more like ransomware, holding customers hostage to ID demands that are invasive, exclusionary and unnecessary.
Children's online safety is vital but requires better parental controls and thoughtful tech responsibility - not sweeping, draconian, shock demands by foreign companies for all of our IDs and credit cards."

It’s been a year since our children spoke up, went to Parliament and delivered a letter to Downing Street.
They didn’t get a reply.
The stink in our town is worse than ever.
Classrooms smell, the kids don't want to play out and it's affecting the mental health of so many people.
This is their message to the Prime Minister.
Please share.

This is a HUGE victory for people power.
After years of pressure, New York City Health + Hospital Corporation will not renew its contract with Palantir.
When communities organise, even the most powerful corporations can be held to account.
Activists in NYC just forced their health system to dump Palantir over human rights concerns.
Now, it's our turn in the UK.
Palantir’s contract with NHS England is up for renewal in February 2027.
This shows we can win.
But we need YOU.

Zionism is an ethno-nationalist political ideology centred around a settler-colonial movement which has the central aim of establishing an apartheid state Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories where Jews have more rights than others.
It is deeply worrying that Steve Reed the Communities Secretary who is meant to represent all UK communities is proudly supporting this ideology.
