Bruno Mars and Olivia Rodrigo both have Filipino heritage, but they don’t really operate as clear representation of the Philippines in the western mainstream. Bruno is often perceived as Black, and his Filipino identity isn’t consistently foregrounded in his public image. Olivia, while open about her Filipino roots, is still mixed and primarily recognized as an American pop artist rather than someone representing the Philippines.
Having Filipino ancestry isn’t automatically the same as being seen as mainstream Filipino representation in western music.

Did you know that my island has parts of it where it wasnt conquered by the spanish, americans, nor the japanese so they were able to pass on their culture through vocal storytelling that the recordings of it is recognized by UNESCO. And it's in my language, my mother tongue.

People are so busy patting this guy on the back that they refuse to actually listen to what Filipinos are saying. Nobody was attacking him for making ube ice cream. Filipinos were simply pointing out the historical context so presenting it like a newly “developed” vegan concept

multilingualism is not enough, otherwise your "local color" will sound awkward and tokenistic. strategies of translation need to be utilized in order for a work written in english to be grounded in filipino sensibility.
