anytime i read the IDW Sonic comics it fascinates me that these writers just fundamentally misunderstand Sonic as a character and write him as a stereotypical sarcastic superhero despite there also being a Sonic manga currently running that nails his character perfectly

I won't mind Sonic and Amy having some romance in Sonic 4. And if that upset fanon shippers, then the better. The franchise has no obligation to be considerate towards ships that are not canonical and only exist in fanon. Fanon shippers really need to grow up.

Well, since there is a friendship developing between the Japanese and American Twitter Users, I decided to chip in with a peace offering between the JP fans and American fans. We may have our favorite interpretation of Sonic the Hedgehog, but I see no reason why we can’t be friends. Especially when we each love our country.

I hate it when fans conflate Amy's eccentric expressions of love or teasing as her having a shallow, "fangirl" crush on Sonic she has to move on from. You fundamentally misunderstand Amy Rose and her dynamic with Sonic. Amy genuinely loves Sonic for who he is, not his image.
