@_andychung ross.cv already taken before the launch sadly :’( this is really cool though! I’d love to hear/read about what it took to become a registrar!

After years of working through word-of-mouth, I’m trying something new: openly sharing that I’m available for work. I’m easing back into projects post-sabbatical, and looking for design engineering / product leadership opportunities.

@tmcw Strong agree. I’m hoping the React compiler project can take some of this guesswork away but it’ll likely add another layer of complexity on its own…

@steakscience Thanks for catching! Funny enough, that's right where my editor wraps around so I missed it

Shocking revelation from this weekend: some part of the left thinks YIMBY is a colonialist belief system 🙃

@robjama A little late, but TASSO makes the best croissants, and I love that they do it on a schedule that works for them (once a week bake)

What are the best specialty bakeries in Toronto? My girls are thinking of starting a little dessert business, and I wanna show them some cool spots to spark their imagination.

@jmduke You can also use the path segment config options like revalidate IIRC #revalidating-cached-data" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nextjs.org/docs/app/build…

@jmduke I think the usual trick is to use API routes but then apply Cache-Control headers. If it’s hosted on Vercel, they’ll respect those at the CDN layer. If you’re not on Vercel, you’d need your own CDN layer in front. github.com/rosszurowski/r…

Am I missing something, or is it ~impossible to statically generate and serve an RSS feed based on a list of markdown files in Next? 1. Can't use getStaticProps (no way to serve XML) 2. Can't use getServerSideProps (can't read files) 3. Can't use API routes (you can read files, but it'd be necessary to do so once per request)

@rosszurowski Oh purely from an ergonomics perspective — when they're tightly coupled it makes things like letting non-technical writers publish & change stuff easily, you suddenly have to think about deployments just for adding new blog posts, etc

Rule #1 of SaaS: host your marketing site and your application site under different domains. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this, and had to get creative.

if i ran a animation for ui designers class today i would simply spend 6 months drilling lerps into everyones heads – no framer-motion, no css, just mapping things to 0-1 and back

More details: I have 99+ drafts to manually move, the ones that belong in a paid team can't be moved to that team, the "learn more" link says nothing about why I can't move them, there's "locked" badges and warning messages everywhere

For how good Figma's core product is, they've really botched this drafts transition
