@sentantiq I love taking advice about Homeric Greek translations from Guys Who Don’t Know Greek But Are Fluent In Misogyny personally. This is clearly why Roman Helmet Guy will always be my first citation.

Emily Wilson’s translation of the Odyssey sucks because she associates a belittling word with Odysseus wherever she can. Compare her choices of “complicated, lost, wrecked, suffered, failed” with Fitzgerald’s “skillful, harried, plundered, weathered, valor.”

It really does ask you what you want out of it.
Kit and stuff is cool. But every time I get into a good gunfight or a close escape I remember that shit long after.
