@AdesojiCalebs Nothing a good customer care service wouldn't have solved. Alas, here we are, where ppl don't get their passport and don't even know exactly what the problem is, as nobody is communicating or responding to their queries.

@AdesojiCalebs Not holding brief for anyone. The process is quite fast when it works, however I've seen many occasions where it hasn't and ppl are left in limbo. I have an ongoing terrible experience and I've met several (over 30) with similar experiences.

SK did a thread on steps by steps how to renew your Nigerian passport. Plenty of us have shared our experiences of how our passports were delivered to our doorsteps. The process is now fast and transparent. So what exactly are you paying Oluomo for if you are not foolish?

@OgbeniDipo @BTOofficial Just maybe @nigimmigration should also do something about their customer service in the UK regarding passport issues. A lot of people are left in limbo about the status of their applications. They somehow create this vacuum that charlatans are exploiting.

I'm afraid we're going to need a two-year ban on the use of the word "intentional" in the US. I'm sorry, it will be difficult, but I've just seen a Delta safety video that said the airline is "being intentional" about supporting the US Olympic team. This cannot continue.

The British press/politicians are indeed world class at distorting the truth... Had I not have a first hand experience as an international student, I'll probably believe this hogwash! Same way they mislead the public about free NHS for all students/migrants

FYI Oduduwa and Obantala were the brothers who created Yorubaland. Unfortunately, Oduduwa got drunk whilst we was making Yoruba people so Obantala was sent to finish the job The was a gold chain involved.

The biggest advantage of living with me is my intellectual machinations. Yesterday I had to wake David up to discuss the possibility of his surname erasing my Yoruba identity and how Obantala/Oduduwa would feel about it if they were alive.

I read about King Solomon in the Bible this week and how he was blessed with everything, but ended up seeking depravity and idolatry. Insatiable wants driven by desire. It is a god complex that only a few, like Marcus Aurelius, could overcome with stoicism.

@DaddyYoVibes @fisayosoyombo Had a similar albeit slightly different experience. On the dashboard, it's stuck at "Verification" however less than 2weeks after capturing, Passport was delivered. Up till now, the dashboard remains unchanged. Must say this isn't in Nigeria though.

@fisayosoyombo Mine will be 1year by the 27th of this month. Stayed at NIN verification for about 6months then we are on this level for like 3months now.

In January 2024 when I wrote that “Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo will NEVER be able to revolutionise Nigeria’s messily-corrupt passport application system”, some accused me of prophesying doom. But it is now six months since I paid and applied for the renewal of my international passport. Maybe I will get it tomorrow. On Thursday July 31, 2025, I paid a sum of N109,700 via the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) payment portal, then proceeded to one of their Lagos offices, to complete further documentation and capture. Meanwhile, the officers first mocked us for kick-starting the registration online. I couldn’t complete capturing on that day due to a “network problem” that lasted several hours; I was forced to return to their office the following day for that. As I write this, “passport pending production” is the long-running feedback from NIS. The irony is that Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo continues to be lauded by the unsuspecting public as one of the best — even the best — ministers in Tinubu’s cabinet. It is already almost five months since Tunji-Ojo announced, in the latest of his many mouthwatering passport efficacy promises, that Nigerians would be able to receive their int’l passports one week after application. My opinion of him remains unchanged; he is simply the typical Nigerian politician who has a mastery of gallery play and public sentiment manipulation via the media for personal branding. Woe unto you if you rely on media reports to gauge the performance of public officers or, more importantly, the efficiency of public institutions!

This is why Toyota cars are the very best. I have not used a Corrolla for 9 months, I charged the battery, changed a fuse, and it is back alive. The RAV4 has only had a coolant bypass valve issue in 5 years since it was bought. It didn't stop because of it, but I replaced it. I want to buy a Highlander next after I sell the Honda CR-V. Mercedes is giving me heart palpitations. Range Rover? Never again!!

Haven’t seen anyone share their ChatGPT wrapped. This tells me people are asking LLMs all the questions they were previously too afraid/embarrassed to ask anyone (especially in the social media age). I don’t know where this will show up in GDP or productivity (or if ever) but I think that’s a really good thing. A lot of focus is on the output of LLMs - em dashes, slop, flat language etc - but the most useful part of it is probably not visible to us. Stay curious.

Think one red line in UK politics for me going forward will be any party that promises not to raise income taxes automatically loses my vote. Not that I want tax rises (I positively hate them) but this last budget has made me realise how annoying it is when a govt tries to raise money and keep that promise at the same time. There is just something terribly irritating (and joyless) seeing all these little tax rises popping up everywhere. Just this morning I've seen that there is now VAT on Ubers and Air Passenger Duty going up from April by 10% (and RPI every April thereafter). An income tax rise would definitely have been preferable to all this rubbish.
