I absolutely have sympathy for people who struggle with disabilities. But if you use a wheelchair and accidentally run over someone’s foot you instantly apologize The lack of any apology whatsoever from him — after hurting so many people— sets his own cause back. BBC failed too.

Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson shouted the N-word while Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage at the BAFTA Film Awards Host Alan Cumming thanked the audience for their understanding after several outbursts throughout the event variety.com/2026/film/awar…

@SholaMos1 You can try and pass your racism off as righteous, all you want. You are clearly racist, bigoted and ableist. FACT. You would pilary a disabled man, because he's white and has a neurological disorder and expect tolerance of your vapid point of view. Fuck you, you dumb cunt.

This was what was said: "I'd like to welcome John Davidson MBE from one of our nominated films I Swear. John has Tourette's Syndrome so please be aware you might hear some involuntary noises or movements during the ceremony." That was far from adequately preparing the guests.
Richie Brave@RichieBrave

was at the BAFTA Awards (Im here rn actually). John Davidson had been involuntary ticking before the show started, and throughout. All guests were made aware before the show started and throughout why. I actually think the film “I swear” depicts and educates on this perfectly.

I’m not a Tourette’s expert, but does that condition prevent someone from apologizing?

So let me get this straight… If a person with disabilities calls me the N word I have to be 100% okay with it because of their condition, and if I get mad I’m ableist…?

Well, today in the discourse, I've seen Americans asking why John didn't shout 'Cracker' at white people (not a term we use here), why he did it during Black History Month (October in the UK) and whether or not he's covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act (he's Scottish)

I was engaged to a man with bipolar disorder and one of the main things his and my therapist emphasized is that he was responsible for apologizing and repairing what he effed up during episodes. Being disabled does not excuse the harm you cause. So miss me with the bs
