WATCH: Progressive groups assembled in front of the Manila Police District Headquarters on Monday afternoon, joining families in their call to free the youth, vendors, and tricycle drivers arbitrarily detained by the police Sunday after the Mendiola protest. Mattheo Wovi Villanueva, a UP Diliman student, was one of over 100 individuals violently arrested by the police. The groups pledged to hold the police’s violent response accountable, calling instead for the arrest of those involved in government corruption.

‘FUNDERS’ BEHIND VIOLENCE Nakatanggap si Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ng “sketchy report” ukol sa kung sino ang nag-utos sa mga kabataang nanggulo sa Manila nitong Linggo, September 21. “Merong mga initial report, sketchy pa, may dating politiko, na Filipino-Chinese, ang funder. Tapos may isang abogado, funder din nung mga batang ‘yon kagabi,” kuwento niya sa mga reporter. Humigit-kumulang 100 katao ang nasaktan dahil sa kaguluhan kasabay ng mga protesta kontra korupsyon. Mahigit 100 naman ang naaresto.

I’m so proud of Quezon City for charging ahead and taking the issue of flood control by its horns - dalawang presscon and weeks of fact-finding to establish the facts and conclusions dito sa QC. According to Mayor Joy Belmonte based on her press con and numerous interviews, these are some of the facts about flood control in QC: 1. Seventeen (17) Billion pesos in flood control projects were implemented by the DPWH in Quezon City and around 2.6 Billion pesos were lost in ghost projects. 2. District 5 has no ghost projects while Districts 1, 2, and 3 have a few ghost projects (less than ten) and Districts 4 and 6 have a lot of ghost projects (more than twenty). 3. Some flood control projects come from the NEP while some come from budget insertions (unclear if by Bicam or Small Committee). Mayor Joy turned over the City’s findings to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for further investigation. And I think QC is the FIRST and only city so far to give the ICI a report about flood control projects in their jurisdiction (with data not just about project title or cost but verification whether the project was implemented or a ghost project). Good governance talaga dito sa Quezon City! #GoodGovernance #Accountability

UNITEAM RECEIVES DONATIONS FROM CONTRACTORS? Nakatanggap ang dating UniTeam tandem na sina Pres. Bongbong Marcos at Vice Pres. Sara Duterte ng milyun-milyong donasyon mula sa contractors nang tumakbo sa 2022 national elections, ayon sa ulat ng Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ). Nakatanggap si Marcos ng kabuuang P21-milyong donasyon mula sa Rudhil Construction & Enterprises Inc. at Quirante Construction Corporation, na pag-aari nina Rodulfo Hilot Jr. at Jonathan Quirante. Samantala, binayaran naman ng Esdevco Realty Corporation ni Glenn Escandor ang political advertisements ni Duterte na nagkakahalaga ng P19.9 milyon. May mga umano’y aktibong kontrata sa gobyerno ang ilang nabanggit na contractors bago o habang nagaganap ang halalan noong 2022. Ipinagbabawal sa 1985 Omnibus Election Code ang pagtanggap mula sa kontratista ng donasyon ng mga kandidato. Batay ang ulat sa pagsusuri ng PCIJ sa mga isinumite nilang statement of contributions and expenses sa Commission on Elections. Hinihingi pa nila ang panig nina Marcos at Duterte ukol dito.
