That complexity isn't an accident BUT is by design. The more hoops between you and the $795 in value, the more people give up and Chase keeps the difference. Travel credit, dining credit, hotel credit, Peloton credit, TSA credit each one is a separate optimization task. Most cardholders capture maybe 60% of the stated value. The $550 effective fee they never advertise is the one most people actually pay. It only works if you treat it like a part time job. The Chase revenue model is based on you not doing that.

Finally cancelled my Chase Sapphire Reserve because @Chase turned getting $795 of value out of the annual fee into a part-time job.

The NBA says there were two incorrect calls in last night's GSW-HOU matchup, which would have directly impacted the game: 1) The NBA says Amen Thompson should have been called for a foul on Steph Curry with 1:27 left after a made layup. 2) Alperen Sengun should have been called for a 3-second violation with 1:10 left, which should have resulted in a turnover. This led to Alperen Sengun making a layup and Draymond Green fouling him. Sengun made the subsequent free throw.

The broadcast did not do justice to exactly HOW empty that arena was. This was one hour into the event at 3:02 pm PST. They had the lights dimmed and the armchair strobe lights going off 95% of the time to try and hide how few people were there. I’m sure the NBA or the Clippers will blame it being in Inglewood, or blame it being a matinee, but there’s ZERO excuse for this. This is corporate greed ruining what was once a marquee event, plain and simple. I recorded this from my $450 upper level seat (which I feel like an absolute sucker for buying). Lower level seats through the Clippers were going for $2K. Most of the people I saw there had media credentials or team laminates on. Very few “fans.” LA loves basketball…there should have been people hanging from the rafters for this. Ballmer should be ashamed, the Clippers should be ashamed, the NBA should be ashamed.
