Well can’t say I’m not glad to see the back of 2024! It’s been a trying year to say the least, but one that has taught me so much, shown me true friendship and made me strong enough to deal with 2025! Bring it on!

It was good to visit @AcornsHospice and meet with CEO Trevor Johnson on Friday, along with fellow Birmingham MP @larry_turner Acorns has three specialist children’s hospices serving the West Midlands and Gloucestershire regions, and I am incredibly proud that one of these is in the Selly Oak constituency. In the past year, Acorns have provided care to 781 local life limited and life threatened children, and support for their families. Back in October, I met with Secretary of State for Health and Social Care Wes Streeting to discuss providing long-term sustainable funding for hospices. I'm delighted that children's hospice funding has now been raised and confirmed for next year. While a multi-year commitment is needed so that hospices can plan for the future, this funding takes the pressure off for the next 12 months. Thank you to the entire team at Acorns for all the fantastic work they have done this year. #sellyoak #hospice #childrenshospice #hospicecare #hospicefunding
