@Benny135371141 When those episodes dropped, I remember people saying Shin was overreacting, but it was obvious why he was so angry. Like you said, he felt betrayed. Jake said in Episode 9 that they had to be on the same level to be partners, and by Season 3, Shin really believed they were.

@roxy0_1 after rereading chap 79/80, it's obvous that the betrayal induced rage, along with a deeper sense of inferiority complex and despair about their relationship, realizing Jake's actually from the elite of society, just such a world apart from him.

#shutline #셔트라인 I want to talk about Season 3 (Episodes 78-82). This is just my interpretation, and I wanted to reference the episodes so it’s clear where my read is coming from. Sorry it’s long 🫠 🚨 Spoilers So, Shin has strong principles. He does not like getting involved with gangs or drugs (Episodes 34 and 80). From Shin’s perspective, Jake appears to be a gang member involved with drugs, so getting close to him already goes against Shin’s usual boundaries. Why would Shin stay with Jake? 2 reasons: > Shin was afraid of Jake (Episode 6 and 79). > Shin is attracted to Jake (Episodes 41, 78, 81). Even with his fears and principles, Shin trusted Jake enough to turn his back on Gren, risk his life multiple times, hide their relationship from others, and let himself get emotionally involved. Why didn't Jake tell Shin the truth (who he was and what he was doing)? > Jake is a CIA agent conducting an undercover investigation while pretending to be a member of the Mercifuls gang. His identity and mission had to stay hidden. Jake can be emotionally careless. He was warned that Shin would be upset about being misled, but he brushed it off and underestimated how much it would hurt Shin (Episode 58 and 79). To Shin, it felt like Jake was insulting his intelligence and playing with his emotions, as if he were just another mission to complete. When the truth came out, Shin felt like a fool and blamed himself for letting his feelings get carried away. Why does Shin keep repeating that Jake used him? > Because Jake's plan was to exploit Shin (Episode 45). Plus, the main reason I can think of is Ross Trautvein. Ross is obsessed with Shin, to the point that he lets important information slip while Shin is around. Shin then tells Jake what he heard/seen. So, from Shin’s point of view, it makes sense that he would believe Jake got close to him because it helped Jake get closer to Ross and gather information for the investigation. During the separation arc (Episodes 79-87), Jake doesn’t really chase Shin to win him back. Jake is cold and calculating, so I think he understood that Shin needed space, but also knew their situation would eventually bring them back together. Did Jake get a "redemption arc"? > Jake kind of answers that himself in Episode 103. He admits he made a mistake and took Shin’s feelings for granted, but he also says he has no regrets, and Shin will have to accept that. From Episodes 88-105, I think there is a change in Jake. He becomes more open with Shin, treats him more gently and even looks at him differently. In Episode 95, even Shin can’t tell if Jake is genuinely being nice or teasing him. And Shin can’t deny that he cares about Jake. Even though Shin wants revenge on Ross, he still chooses to protect Jake, the person who has become most important to him.
