okay I've had it with people calling a collection of 3D Gaussians "a splat". It's ungrammatical! The proper term for a group of Gaussians is "a carl", named of course in honor of Carl Friedrich Gauss. A murder of crows, a pod of whales, a carl of Gaussians. Got it? Sheesh.
