Built this chart in ggplot2. But the lesson is bigger than code: 1. Explore early. 2. Specialize wisely. 3. Exploit compounded advantage later. #ggplot2 #reinforcementlearning #mathworks

Just testing out my material in Posit.cloud for my Introduction to Using R as a GIS course coming up on 28 & 29 April #introduction-to-spatial-data-using-r-as-a-gis" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">nickbearman.com/training-cours…. For those that know, R is one of the best languages ever written, the genius of Ross & Robert is grossly under estimated. R has allowed me to do amazing stuff that would take several lines of code to do in SQL and other languages... Thats even before we talk about the amazing TidyVerse #Tidyverse

Using #Gapminder dataset, I tracked Asia's journey from 1952 to 2007. Look at the teal flow (using the Okabe-Ito palette for accessibility). Asia had a massive leap! 🌏📈
🗓️ 1952: A huge segment was trapped in <45 yrs life expectancy & <$1k GDP.
🗓️ 2007: That same flow surged into the 60-74 age bracket & $5k-$15k income tier.
The Tech: Built this in #RStats using {easyalluvial} & {parcats}. Absolute credit to the creators of these two packages and thanks to @JoachimSchork for the highlight!

We are hitting a "Sophistication Wall" in AI evaluation. 🧱Most new benchmarks (GPQA, AgentBench) are pushing into the high-design quadrant, but look at the "High Utility Frontier" it’s nearly empty.
Are we benchmarking for real-world use, or just for technical bragging rights? Thoughts? 👇#Rstats #Tidyverse #ggplot2

@mdancho84 Hi Matt, I recreated fig 2.1.41 from the report using ggplot2 with the visual on the right. Any comments comparing the two visuals?

How are you mapping your skill growth this year? Let’s discuss below! 👇 #DataScience #TechTrends #RStats

Built in #RStats with ggraph + tidygraph.
By treating skills as nodes in a graph, we can weight the flow to identify team gaps more accurately than a simple overlap allows. 💻 Connectivity > Membership.

“This clown wants to make France an AI leader with €30M.”
€30 million → to attract and support around forty top-tier international researchers. They chose France for its values and its commitment to science.
Sometimes it’s too slow…
€54 billion → mobilized as early as 2022 to build France 2030. A France that advances health, climate, and fundamental science by investing boldly in artificial intelligence.
Over €100 billion → in private investment announced at the Paris AI Summit by French and international companies to develop AI in France.
That’s it?
#1 → In 2025, France ranked first among countries attracting foreign investment to build data centers. More billions invested in our regions and in our talent.
Yes. Here in France, we believe in science. And AI is here to elevate, to build, to move the world forward, not to insult. 🙊

Ten simple rules for teaching data science arxiv.org/abs/2602.02874
1: Teach data science by doing data analysis
2: Use participatory live coding
3: Give tons of practice and timely feedback
4: Use tractable or toy data examples
5: Use real and rich, but accessible data sets

If your chart breaks for 8% of your audience, it is broken.
Using {ggokabeito} makes insights like South Africa’s 2007 health-wealth gap visible to everyone.
Accessibility is not a “nice to have.” It is how data tells the truth.

🇮🇹 The North–South divide is real.
Does a university degree pay off in Italy?
It depends on your latitude. The Industrial North rewards education. The Southern Gap does not.

@AndrewYNg @Landon_marston @ProtectAquifer For the #rstats community: Aggregates inform Policy, but Distributions inform Infrastructure.
I simulated this double paradox using {patchwork} and {ggtext}. Reproducible code to explore these edge cases yourself:

English

Prof @AndrewYNg, fully agree that on a national volume basis, Golf > Compute. But we have to watch for Simpson's Paradox in the aggregates. The "Average" hides the risk distribution:
1. The Climate Shift: In Arid zones, evaporative cooling demands spike while golf courses vanish.
The Local Spike: A single Hyperscale campus can overwhelm a rural municipality, even if the "National Average" looks fine.
I simulated this statistical effect using R to show how the Aggregate view masks the Local infrastructure reality 👇
