Okay so hear me out🚀 There are two narratives: ✅PlayStation is ending physical discs because they’re too expensive to make and there’s little demand ✅Digital video games are priced the same as physical games because manufacturing costs are “negligible” Which one is it? Is making games on discs too expensive that digital games could’ve been sold for way less? Or is the cost of making discs negligible so we can afford to keep having physical games even if 5% only buy physical discs?🤣 NO DISC. NO BUY💿

Logged into PSN today in the browser for the first time in like 5 years and was greeted with the fact that the PlayStation I once knew is long gone. And my game library page doesn't display anything pre-PS4 anymore. They really want you to forget their old identity really badly. It's sad. As someone who once owned and played every PS console & portable since I was a child, it's insane to me how embarrassed I feel even associating with them lately.

Imagine for a moment that your heart stopped. You wake up 3 days later in hospital. You’re recovering in hospital for the next 3 weeks, but stories of your death start to pop up on the news. ….and not once does any staffer “hey, you should make a statement!” MEANWHILE: -Your wife is in China -Your daughter deletes her Twitter account -Journalists hound your staffers. Maybe you look rough. Maybe you can’t even speak. But not a tweet? Not a written statement attributed to your name, that some staffer wrote? Instead only a “statement from your office” Why? If you’re awake and recovering in a bed, why no statement on the rumors of your own death, which staffers have surely seen now? Unless you are unable to. Took my #PS5 completely offline today to test if I can run physical games without having to be online. So far, I’m having no issues. As expected, I do not have access to the PlayStation Store or PS+ features but otherwise games are loading and playable. I’m going to SNES this console. Publishers say they're ending physical media because consumers stopped buying it. The truth is, shareholders wanted publishers to stop selling ownership.

Call me crazy but I think Sony is going to turn this decision around. I see too many people canceling PSN.

@xMBGx You can blame Private Equity for this. Blackrock has taken a larger stake in multiple Sony companies and is getting their scummy vulture culture into Japanese companies.

Just to show you how scummy Sony is being with this news. They anticipated their numbers would drop through people protesting/boycotting by canceling Ps Plus and pre-orders but they won't have to show their numbers to investors until the end of September. Their next earnings call is July 31st however it only covers up to June 30th. They planned this out perfectly to drop it on July 1st for this very reason. The numbers dip early July, they have over 2 months to watch them HOPEFULLY recover as the deperate gamers crawl back and the investors see that Sony moving away from physical games didn't hurt anything. Keep this is mind as we move forward. Sony is betting on you caving and crawling back to them in the coming weeks. Oh and so are the investors.
