In the @PioneerSeeds Agronomy Update, Pioneer Field Agronomist Kristie Sundeen said this week’s weather will jump start the crop into summer. “Most of the corn has been planted, with some expected to finish this week. GDU accumulation has been slow with the cooler temperatures in May. Early planted corn is just starting to emerge. The AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act was included as an amendment to the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s update to the National Highway Traffic Safety programs. It passed on a 48-one vote. This language is expected to be folded into the reauthorization of the Highway bill when it comes to the House floor. This is the best path forward for the AM Radio bill since it was first introduced three years ago. The proposal would require automakers to keep AM broadcast radio as standard equipment in all new passenger vehicles. The bill has the support of the @NAFB, @FarmBureau , @NFUDC and numerous commodity groups.

Minnesota beef producers narrowly rejected a proposed 50-cent increase to the state beef checkoff. The vote was 380-to-377, with the increase denied by a three-vote margin. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture handled the statewide referendum. The current beef checkoff rate of $1 per head will not change. @MNagriculture

"Later-than-average start times can sometimes cause the critical early-season weed control to be skipped as a time saver," said Lunder. Cold temperatures have been behind the slow start to the planting season. Corteva has unveiled a new brand for its spinoff seed genetics business. The new name for the seed business will be Vylor. When Corteva announced the separation of its crop protection and seed business, they referred to the seed company as SpinCo. Green, maroon and blue will be the colors used in Vylor’s branding, signifying its Pioneer, Brevant, Hogemeyer and Corteva legacy brands. Corteva’s planned separation is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of this year. @corteva @PioneerSeeds

Nearly $10 billion of the $11 billion allocated for Farmer Bridge Assistance has gone out. "Of the roughly 580,000 eligible producers, we've yet to hear from about 36,000."
