the core problem is pricing risk. take critical industries rn (robots, SMRs, satellites). w/o sufficient confidence in risk assessment, financiers wont give access to capital on 'workable' terms. PMs allow anyone (yes armchair risk analysts but more importantly new age insurers) w/ info, not just loss history to set price risk. 1° - discrete deployment risks like launch failures, interconnection delays, tariffs, and battery degradation become tradable contracts with live prices instead of opaque annual premiums. 2° - entities sitting on proprietary monitoring data (re: applied data foundries) stop being pure premium payers & start trading their information edge.Thus expanding the role of an early stage CFO. 3° - the operator becomes the insurer when power migrates to those who have the live data feeds.
