@ChadAHolloway @ItsJohnnyChan @TheHendonMob One of my highlights in '23 was watching him while he watched footage of a hand from the 2011 WSOP when he flopped trips, but his opponent turned a straight, as he commented on his play ("I wouldn't play that any differently.") and his appearance ("I look better now, right?")

The A♦️ is the legendary @ItsJohnnyChan! He has more than $8.7 million in lifetime earnings dating back to 1982 according to @TheHendonMob, which includes a career-high for finishing runner-up to Gus Hansen in the 2005 Poker Superstars Invitational. That was slightly more than the $700K he got for winning the 1988 @WSOP Main Event and $625K he got for winning it the year before in 1987. In 1989, he was denied the three-peat by @phil_hellmuth but still earned $302K for finishing runner-up (Hellmuth won $755K that year). With win in Event 25: $2,500 Pot-Limit Hold’em at the 2005 WSOP (he defeated @PhilLaak heads up), Chad became the first person to win 10 lifetime WSOP bracelets, just a few days before Doyle Brunson tied him. I could go on and on about Chan, but suffice it to say if anyone in poker deserves a biography on their life, he would be right towards the top!

❤️♠️♦️♣️ I found this Pro Deck of cards feat. famous poker players from the 1990s. Each day in this thread I’ll share a new card! First up A♠️ = Poker Hall of Famer Lyle Berman (inducted in 2002) 3-time @wsop bracelet winner (1989 $1,500 PLO, 1992 $2,500 NLH & 1994 $5,000 NL 2-7 Lowball) with $2,741,240 in lifetime earnings according to @TheHendonMob. The 82-year-old is originally from Minnesota and a pioneer in creating gaming establishments outside Vegas and Atlantic City, especially through tribal gaming. He was once chairman of the board for @wpt and the book “All-In” is his biography.

The 8♦️ is Hans “Tuna” Lund (September 23, 1950 – November 6, 2009), or according to the error on the card “Tune.” He hailed from Sparks, Nevada and began his career in 1977 winning two @WSOP gold bracelets. The first was in 1978 when he won Event 8” $1,500 NLH Non-Pro for $46,800 and the other in 1996 in Event 14: $1,500 Limit A-5 Draw Lowball. He finished runner-up to Mansour Matloubi in the 1990 WSOP Main Event for a career-high $334,000 and two years later third in the 1992 WSOP Main Event for $176,750. He finished runner-up in two other WSOP tournaments. He has nearly $2,915,543 in lifetime earnings according to the @TheHendonMob. In addition to his two bracelets, Lund won a Hall of Fame watch, the Super Bowl of Poker main event, and the Best All-Around Player Award at the Diamond Jim Brady tournament. He largely retired from tournament poker in 1997 to spend time with his kids, Jimmy & Lilly, though he did make sporadic appearances and had some deep runs in @WPT events. Tuna Lund passed away in 2009 at age 59 after a long battle with cancer.

@ungar_stefanie It's heartbreaking. It's hard to keep memories alive in a city that tears down its history daily.

@ChadAHolloway With Lloyd Bridges history, I'm surprised they would have let him go up in that hot air balloon.

Remember novelty poker tournaments? Well, in 1993 there was the world’s first hot-air balloon tournament! It took place on Sunday, October 14 as a part of Autumn Fest by Lake Elsinore City. According to CardPlayer Magazine: “California’s largest hot-air balloon, which is owned by Steve Wilkinson, carried Lloyd Bridges, Grace Hauser, and tournament officials from Lake Elsinore Resort and Casino, up and away to compete in the world’s first poker tournament in a hot-air balloon. Winner Grace Hauser captured the title with pocket kings in a no-limit Hold’em showdown.” Apparently the winners of the three preliminary side events were invited to compete in the hot-air balloon playoff for $1,000. Lloyd had won two of the side events so therefore it wound up a heads-up finale, but Grace got the job done! It’s been 31 years but maybe it’s time to bring hot-air balloon poker back!

@jessefullen Hahaha. Try bacon jam - couldn't be easier, fry the bacon, add onions, keep it on low, and cook until the onions are caramelized - and put it on your next hamburger, and then thank me later.

@rsgrayllc But I only make bacon. You’re asking me to make more things when I only make bacon. If I could add it to bacon to make the bacon more baconey I would but unnecessary.

I never knew advice on handling bacon grease was such a value. This might lead to my first check from Twitter/X.

@OnlyClipping @gamerguy51 @InternetH0F I was taught to get a wide mouth mug and put foil inside and around the top. Pour the grease into the foil, let it sit for an hour or two, take the foil out with the grease hardened in the middle and toss in garbage.

I bagged the AZ State Championship yesterday. Was actually a frustrating day but we didn’t die 🤷🏽‍♂️ More importantly, there’s only 2 days lefts on my Kickstarter for Hold’em For Dear life and I’m going to need ya’ll to get your wallets out to buy the dopest deck of cards since they started adding pips in the peel zone. Link in Bio! #kickstarter #poker #playingcards

It’s been real, Las Vegas, but camp is over and it’s time to go home. I came for hardware but I’m happy to settle for great memories and greater friendships. I’ll admit I have one regret and it has nothing to do with gambling. I’m not even mad I got trapped here an extra two days. As always, ‘Money Behind’. #WSOP #poker

Thank you so much @NormanChad for shouting out @HoldEmFDL (Now on Kickstarter) on the Main Event stream today! Inconceivable! I can’t believe it. It’s unbelievable. This was his pick for his favorite card. A wise man also mentioned to me that there was a poem that said the Jack of Diamonds is a tough card to play…

@kitkatpoker @WSOP @bkbohn Not sure why I get more tilted at cribbage than I do poker. My wife always cuts the absolute best card for her and worst for me, but I can never repay her. Hope you get some rungood in both!
