Perhaps the Bay Area dodged a bullet by not having John Fisher been the one who built the A’s a stadium here… Literally everything about their marketing these days reads as corny, corny, corny. And one thing Oakland is not, is corny. But clearly part of this move is distancing the team from their history here in the Bay Area. Which y’know, whatever, fine. Oakland gets to keep some piece of the team… But John Fisher is just a guy with no discernible taste or aesthetic sense of his own other than going around using his parents’ money to buy other, more accomplished people’s art and hoarding it for himself.
