Bitterly cold at the Tower this morning and very hazy too.
Highlight 22 Brambling SW a Ring Ouzel S 9 Crossbill 2 Hawfinch 2 Fieldfare and 3 Raven and a Woodlark.
Virtually no movement otherwise - where are all the Redwing ?
@Crane_Spotter
22 Stonechat on @CityCorpHeath this morning. Not a high count for this location, but getting near it (24 in September 2022). Beautiful morning too! #londonbirds
A few highlights from my recent trip to Zimbabwe. Some real lookers like Swallow-tailed Bee-eater, but also quite a few tricky LBJs too. The fourth photo shows female Black-eared Seedeater, which was probably the scarcest bird I saw - less than 1k records on eBird to date.
Just back from Zimbabwe, what a great birding destination! Was a family holiday but managed to squeeze a bit of birding in🤪. eBird trip report here in case of interest: ebird.org/tripreport/411…
I was just saying that these easterlies hadn’t delivered anything and then casually looked down at the river near Tate Modern and saw this! My first here, and only my third wader species. Never give up looking! #londonbirds
A couple of Lesser Redpoll have been hanging around the Tate Modern for the last week. I’ve had a couple of flyovers before but these are the first that have stayed #londonbirds
This certainly wasn’t on my radar as I left the house this morning - Tundra Bean Goose on Wanstead Flats. Always check those flocks of Greylag geese! Urban patch birding at its finest #londonbirds
@rubatroid Yeah it's been hard going to find the peregrines at the Tate or even at the barbican tbh. The Royal courts pair have been more visible albeit more at the old itv building across the river but also not quite as easy as usual from the Tate area....
It’s been a quiet start to the year at Tate Modern, with even the usual Peregrines being noticeably absent so far. These two GBBG posed nicely yesterday though; they are regular here but it’s rare that I see two interacting like this #londonbirds
Great to get some really good views of the Dartford Warbler at Hampstead Heath today! Seems to be more showy than the last time I saw it. Also, a Stonechat, Kestrel, Coal Tits and a Green Woodpecker. @LondonBirdClub@WildLondon@CityCorpHeath
My best ever year at Tate Modern with 67 sp, including 9 patch ticks. Doesn’t sound much but its bang in the middle of central London. Makes me wonder what I could’ve got if I’d covered it properly when I was working in the office 5 days instead of the current 2! #londonbirds
