You couldn't blame Worcestershire if they felt a sense of Beyers' Remorse

❌ "It's been a real challenge for him. He's been here on his own. I don't think there's any winners out of this." 🏏 "Hopefully now we can move on & Beyers can enjoy his Cricket with us." Worcestershire Head Coach Alan Richardson reflects on the Beyers Swanepoel NOC saga

Quick primer on day-night Tests over on the CricViz Substack. Good data showing when it's actually hardest to bat, how the pink ball swings differently, and pushing back on the idea that medium pace is more relevant here than in normal Aussie Tests.

England's average speed on Day 1 in Perth was 141kph, the highest they have managed in a Test since records began in 2006. #Ashes

Boland's 6-7 is one of the most iconic Ashes spells; his 2023 tour was the worst Ashes effort by an 🇦🇺 quick in almost a century.
Underlying numbers? Almost identical.
Given Aussie injuries, the fate of the urn rests on England toppling Scotty's statue

Balls bowled on the stumps today:
Five runs
Six wickets
Some great bowling in there, but some questionable shots.

🇯🇪Cricket is booming in the Channel Islands.
Jersey has a population of 100,000, and yet they only missed out on the T20 WC on net-run-rate, and are currently on track to make the ODI WC.
Can they really make it? A piece from the Rock.

🚍Cricket on the buses.
A piece on the Windrush generation and a unique period of history where arguably the strongest club cricket in England was played between London Transport bus garages.
Thanks to @alextudorcoach and his dad Darrell for their time

After losing their first wicket, England failed to last more than 5 balls between wickets throughout the remainder of their innings.

@rufus_cricket I was curious to know, how is a shot characterised as a False shot?

Special player, get him up the order. More balls faced can only be a positive thing for this side #ENGvIND

I feel like the time has come for Stokes to slide to 7 and Smith to jump up to 6. Stokes' regression with the bat is concerning but fingers crossed he can find some form #ENGvIND

Wrote something on @cricvizanalyst around Shubman Gill's series as a batter. Hasn't nailed it outside of Asia, but there are a few players - Kohli and Sangakkara among them - who have provided a template for how to adapt to English conditions. #ENGvIND

For the first piece on the free @cricvizanalyst Substack, I got stuck into Kagiso Rabada v Pat Cummins.
One has 327 wickets at 22.00, the other 294 at 22.43. One's a line-and-length freak, one's a wicket-hunting strike rate gun.
So who's better?

The Freddie Wilde story is a great one. Constructive & justified critique of RCB over the years, the franchise then hires him as an analyst and he plays an important role in helping them win the trophy.
