Nope, Eileen Gu symbolizes how global elites exploit mobility to find the optimal path to success. She trained skiing in the US but competed for China. She also took SAT classes in China to get into Stanford, enjoying the best of both worlds with a fluid national identity.

Pretty sure they've been moving between US & China for decades. Perhaps a more interesting question: would the "non-elite" working class rather live in the communist paradise of [country with enforceable labor laws] or China?

I wouldn't frame it as "Apple can't." It certainly can. Apple is a hugely profitable trillion-dollar company. It's just that it costs money to be a human rights-respecting company and Apple is unwilling to incur the cost.

Each time China tries to “teach Taiwan a lesson”, Taiwanese people reject them more deeply. Today we announce the creation of a $200 million fund to invest in Lithuanian industries. The way to confront bullying is not to give up, it’s to work together.

A Chinese government contractor said he “had been assigned to investigate a mix of Chinese undergraduates studying in the US, a Chinese American policy analyst who is a US citizen, and journalists who previously worked in China.” Chilling.

Very powerful open letter to the #IOC from Peter Dahlin 👇 For people unaware, Peter was put in secret detention and forced to give a confession on Chinese state-run TV, so he has some valuable insights into what #PengShuai may be experiencing safeguarddefenders.com/en/blog/open-l… @iocmedia
