I never had boys but if I did, the one piece of marathon running advice I would give is, “You can never apply too much Vaseline between your buttocks because if you forget you will feel Rawson.” The support tables at Kosmos were absolutely fantastic. #kosmosmarathon

On the other hand, Secunda was so named as it was Sasol’s second major synthetic fuel plant after Sasolburg. As for which town hosts the better marathon, I’ll let you know after the Sasolburg Marathon on 28 March. #RunSouthAfrica

Secunda is not going to win any beauty prizes but the finish around the Bleshoender Dam at #KosmosMarathon is rather attractive. A bleshoender is a Red-Knobbed Coot (which is going straight into my lexicon of humorous bird names next to the Great Tit and Masked Booby).

I've been for plenty of Boesies during a marathon but you can enjoy a proper sit down Boesie after #kosmosmarathon. The English translation is “wild sh1t” – on that note it’s great to see🇿🇦winning international events again. A 59:30 half marathon is some Cerious “wild sh1t”!

Referees are using innovative new methods to monitor for headphones and proper license pinning. Wondering what the "no evil” monkey running equivalent… see no littering, hear no ‘you’re almost there’, speak no moaning that Garmin distance is different to the official race dist?

Thanks for all differing opinions on music at races. My RUN Mag column is done (will do in depth blog article as well). Here’s my column from Dec about CTM cancellation. For those that read my expose article, this is a much more succinct piece that covers all the main topics.

There have been a lot of high-profile marshalling errors recently (both locally and internationally). One place you don’t want to get lost is Secunda. The #KosmosMarathon organisers make it virtually impossible to go MIA with their thin blue line to safely guide the runners.

@poetwithpace This is own personal music during a race (in South Africa you will get DQed for wearing earphones, even bone conducting ones).

303rd Marathon & 2nd #KosmosMarathon in Secunda. I was happy to be 1-and-done, good luck to all the 3-in-1ers still out there. Lucky to get a last minute entry and keep the streak going after Swasap 52k got cancelled. Also meant I avoided the very long pre-entries queue!
