Last night I spoke to a group of female XC runners. We asked who thought they looked like a runner. No one raised a hand. They were incredibly talented, funny, and supportive. They were all runners. How can we ensure young athletes see themselves through less critical eyes?

In the initial call w a current athlete, they claimed a healthy relationship w food. 5 mo later, they opened about all of their issues w/ eating, body image and self worth. Gaining trust is 1/2 the battle. Don’t take athletes at face value until you know them (& they know you).

I feel this has many negative impacts outside of performance and fatigue, like stomach issues and mental turmoil.

It's confirmed that Mosquito Ridge Rd will not be open for race day as the damage from the fire and rain is too severe. Thus, no crew access to Duncan Canyon or Dusty Corners this year. It is expected to be repaired in 2023 just not in time for our race. wser.org/course/aid-sta…
